Good start to the day and weekend. A 3 pass relaxing, comfortable shave that was BBS everywhere. The GD Angel is flawless in performance and I can say that in post shave attributes there are only 2 others that can match the GD line of Tallow based soaps in that area. And BLEU de Chanel edp, need we go any further? Hell of a start! Have a great day and amazingly awesome shaves Gents..... ;)

I started off with Proraso Pre Shave. The Proraso Sandalwood Shaving Cream face-lathered well with the Jayaruh #274 boar brush. I did two passes with the Rocket 5/8 and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayer's Lemon WH and then Granddad's AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

    Prep: Warm Shower-Stirling Bergamot Lavender
    Soap: Country Club Spice Trail
    Razor: Gillette Slim
Blade: Vintage Schick Plus Platinum (8)
Brush: Elite Razor High Mountain White-24mmx50mm

Country Club Spice Trail today. 20 seconds to load the Elite Razor High Mountain White brush. Easy, thick, slick, lather. Vintage Schick Plus Platinum still in the Gillette Slim. Excellent smooth, close, shave. I finished with Country Club Southern Oud aftershave.

    Good morning!

    Here's my SOTD:

    L'Oreal Men Expert Facial Wash
    Razorock Plissoft 26mm Monster
    Super Speed/Astra day 6
Stirling Gin+Tonic on the Rocks SS
    Prep ASB
    Osage Rub AS Splash
    Drakkar Noir EdT

Another great BBS which was effortless thanks to my trusty 1950's Super Speed - the Astra is still holding up well. The Gin+Tonic OTR soap has such a lovely scent, it lathers like a bomb, and the menthol from it rates around a 6.5/10 on my freeze scale. The Prep (thanks DaveP!) felt so cooling, soothing, as well as moisturizing and the Osage Rub is loaded with heavy duty menthol.

    Have a great Saturday!

Excuse me people.........but is it not Derby Day?

Here's my lame attempt to have a Derby themed shave. I'm sure you folks that have a horse hair brush, Derby cream and Derby blades can clobber my meager display.

    Cream: Derby Normal
    Brush: Omega S10065
    Bowl: Dollar Tree salsa
    Razor: Fatip Grande
    Blade: Gillette Nacet (7)
    Aftershave: Pinaud Clubman

Terrific setup as usual, Steve! Question about the PAA Ice pre-shave. Do you lather it with a brush or is it more like hand soap you work up and rub on your face?

Perry, thanks for the kind words. Many times I enjoy a boast of Menthol so I use these preshave soaps. I think PAA's cube is the best, but the Glycerin based older soaps look cool in the photos and I have been using them up. After I shower and wet my face, I rub them on like a shave stick or Alum block. Not too heavy, just a lighter coating. Then I wet my hands and just rub them on my face to lather it up a bit. If I don't do this, it is a bit dry under my shave soap lather since I mostly bowl lather and then basically paint it over the pre-soap treatment. I works great. Sometimes I switch it up and apply the pre-shave soap after the first pass because you feel the coolness more once you have started shaving. I don't use them to boast lather since my water is fairly soft and really don't have an issue with the lathering of my typical shave soaps. I just use them basically for the chilling effect. I like the Cube the best because the scent is the mildest, feels the coolest, and seems slicker in my opinion. The Ice follows as my second go to but you can smell the Menthol a bit more. The ATG version is milder and the scent is pretty weak. It is not bad but I would stick with the Cube or Ice. I also have the Clubman version, but like the ATG, the scent really is very mild and the cooling effect I believe is even less. Hope that helps.

    Prep: Hot towel
    Pre shave: Prep
    Razor: Weber ARC
    Blade: Gillette Silver Blue
Brush: The 'Americana' (Shavemac 24/48 D01 2 Band)
    Soap: Declaration Grooming 'Santal Auster'
Post: Cold water rinse / Witch Hazel / Barrister & Mann: Latha Taiga Post-Shave Splash
    Fragrance: Xerjoff Richwood

What a wonderful shave.. the Weber simply shines with the GSB, and as for the 'Santal Auster'..... Scott, stand up and take a bow! ... This Icarus base is, without a doubt, head and shoulders above the 'regular' lineup.... definitely something special going on here!!

    Razor: Gillette Guard
    Blade: Guard Cart. (6)
    Pre Shave: DIY
    Brush: VDH Badger
    Lather: Proraso Green
    AS: Mennen afta

The Gillette Guard razor should be re- designed and made of metal, it still feels like a toy, but it shaves like one of the big boys. A 2 Pass shave, WTG/ATG with a little touch up ( mainly the driver`s fault ). Probably the smoothest razor I`ve used to date. The Proraso doesn`t seem to make much of a difference over the canned lather. They are, by far the least expensive blades I can find. So I guess I shouldn`t gripe. With a cold water rinse and a generous amount of "afta, I am considerately pleased. Smooth, close and irritation free. Happy Camper. God Bless.
