Update on the Jeeves Bay Rum:

I weighed the remaining soap last week before the titanic attempt began. Soap itself was 60 grams and when loaded into the apothecary mug it was 446 grams.

The weight today after four shaves last week is 436 grams. I used 10 grams in four shaves. So the remaining soap would be 50 grams. If I'm using about 2.5 grams per shave then this amount should last about 20 more shaves.

How do some of you load four grams per shave? I feel like I load fairly heavy, but apparently not!

@Primotenore - I'm tagging you here in case you don't read this thread much or at all, and in solidarity as you titanic a soap as well.

Hotel shave today called for the Stirling Lil Brudder synthetic brush. Every time I use this thing I’m stunned at what a great job it does whipping up a rich, thick lather. This thing outperforms some very expensive badgers in my den. I have a handle that needs a 24mm knot and may go looking for the manufacturer of this knot to procure one. Rumor has it that it maybe a Yaqui. Anyone have any inside knowledge? I hate to go buy a Stirling syntheatc just to go crack open a perfectly good handle.

 

He is shaving with a DE89 (sans blade). I haven't quite gotten him to the shavette just yet.

Because I “bloom“ my soaps, I really get a lot of soap in the brush. Easily, 4 g per shave Or, I load it like I hate it LOL

Go get one of those 35mm brushes. You'll have more lather than you can use in a week, but the soap disappears.
