Monday May 7 - continuing with different SE razors
Gem 1912 / Gem PTFE (5)
JR #276 white ash and boar brush
Vitos Eucalyptus shaving cream
Alum and Osage Rub
No pic today. I continued with the Gem type razors by using one of the ones I actually like and have shaved with a lot -- a 1912. The brush face lathered the usual reliable lather from the cream, then the razor whisked it away 2.5 times -- twice on my face and neck and then an extra lather pass just along my jawline. The result was my normal DFS that could turn into a BBS if only I would court a bit of irritation by doing some extra buffing in a couple places.
Tomorrow I will use another Gem I can usually get a good shave from with no risk -- the Featherweight. I must say, though, I came to a somewhat unexpected conclusion today. I did a Rule or Focus about half a year ago with my Gem and EverReady 1912s and learned to use them reliably. I know I can get a good shave from them, from the Featherweight, and from my Dammy, and I now know I can shave with the 1914, 1924s or my MMOC without bloodshed too. However, today I realized that while I
can shave with the Gem SEs, I don't really
enjoy shaving with
any of them. There are many DEs I enjoy and several models of injectors, but the Gem SEs? Meh... (Sorry, Fuzzy
