I know this answer doesn't mention Stoylin, but here's a brand whose aftershaves NEED to be stretched out..perhaps for LIFE. And that is, Bill Neumann&Co.(My goofy name for Wm. Neumann&Co). To paraphrase my Dad, those are "thirty bucks a throw". But back to Stoylin, that was professional and decent of Mandy to announce that.
I don;t know that I've tried patchouli(maybe I have, but the scent name doesn't come out at me like leather, barbershop, lime). Maybe will try a sample first.
Glacial will make your eyes tear up if you've little physical tolerance or experience with heavy menthol.
Come on Paul, you were alive in the wood stock era weren't you? You know what patchouli smells like Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
Glastonbury is an excellent scent in my opinion. I have the soap and splash, sometimes use B&M Cheshire splash to mix it up a bit.
Hadn't begun shaving yet, and I was in Europe during Woodstock. "By the time they got to Woodstock He was still across the pond"
My very first menthol was Iced Coffee. I bought it on sale because I love coffee, and didn’t even know what I had until my face started getting cold! I blindly stumbled into a discontinued winner. Once I learned the language and actually started reading the product descriptions, I bought MITA, Orange Chill and Glacial Lemon. Iced Pineapple has only been in my collection for a couple weeks but it’s another winner for sure.
It's true - the Glacial soaps are a force to be reckoned with. But if you psyche yourself up you'll love them!
SOTD MAYhem 9th Stirling Mentholated Pre-Shave Soap Gillette Trac II CVS/Personna Hardright Anchorset (24mm, Frigate Class) Stirling Iced Pineapple soap and AS Stirling Glacial Unscented PSB Today was the first time that I have used a cartridge razor in two and a half years. I must say that the shave went better then expected, funny how proper technique can improve the use of any tool. I recall from my cartridge days that when I was using a M3 or similar pivoting head cart that it always felt like I was dragging sand paper across my face. I didn't get that feeling with the Trac II, maybe it was because the head doesn't pivot or maybe it was just because my face was too frozen to feel it. I was mindful of using the razor with no pressure and did two passes for CCS. The shave was definitely not nearly as close as any other razor in my arsenal but its plenty good enough for a work day. I will note that the lube strip on the cart left a gloppy gooey slime on my face that I didn't much care for. So I will be removing the lube strip for any future endeavors with this razor. The star of the show was the Stirling Iced Pineapple. Man I love this soap. No lie, it is my absolute favorite soap, #1, may have to order a backup tub (or two). ITS THAT GOOD! Have a great day my friends!
BTW @PickledNorthern sign me up for the glacial Lemony Orange goodness! I'm in for soap and AS (if that becomes possible).
I think I may have staaaated something!(Course with your help). By the way, going way back in Stoylin history, I was reminded that of my first set of A./S.samples, I put Gentleman second, ahead of Xecutive Man and Sharp Dressed Man. (Course Sandpiper topped the group).
BTW!!! I've been meaning to do a little review of Sandpiper EdT. First of all, what an amazing scent profile. I can totally see why YSL La Nuit de l'Homme is a classic. The opening lasted about 20 minutes with a bright burst of citrus , the middle has more of a floral showing with the lavender pulling ahead. the closing hangs around with a sweet, musky, ambery feel to it. Overall I got about 3.5 hours of performance out of three sprays, two on my neck below my ears and one on my wrist for my own evaluation.
