    Palmolive, shall we?

This blade is done. I'll have to see what I have laying around for tomorrow. Shave was ok, but blade is starting to grab a bit rather than glide like one of @Keithmax machete sized SRs. So...on to another blade tomorrow. Good thing I enjoy Palmolive. It's an "easy" soap. @KenH - I believe you are in the United Kingdom? If there is a Boots pharmacy near you, you should try their house label shave stick, it's very similar to Palmolive and quite a nice soap. on another note, it was 90F yesterday in Denver. Currently raining. But....all is quiet in Colorado.

    Have a nice weekend!

7-19% relative humidity is common here in Colorado. It's pretty much like being in the desert, shade and sun are very different, the heat is not stifling like where you are.

    Saturday Shave

Today's razor was an extreme smiling Herr Razor, with a fine edge creating that wonderful machete gliding across my face feeling. It requires a little different technique, it makes shaving my neck much easier. The C&C soap is wonderful and everything seemed perfect. A tickle from the alum denied my shave an epic rating but still an excellent shave.

I knew I felt a disturbance in the Force earlier as a Sith Lord stropped some fine carbon steel!

Do you enjoy the feel of a thick blade? What's your sweet spot on blade specs these days?

When I shaved with my pen razor the other day, my wife gave me a look reminiscent of Adam’ wife when she drinks margaritas, and said, “ You realize you have scars on your face already.”

Okay, so I am still really behind. Did this get offered up? Cause it needs to be.

The blade should have been tossed before this shave, but laziness won.

Had a bit of tugging and closeness suffered in a few spots, but overall it was a decent shave with no irritation.

It was good enough for this cool and rainy Saturday.

    Enjoy your day.

What size knot does that handle take? I have a TGN Finest 22 mm set at 44, that is a really nice looking knot, and just a fireplug. One of the softer TGN’s I have had, but lots of backbone from the short set.

EDIT - Sorry, Andrew ignore me. Sometimes I forget that I am still days behind, and comment on something that’s already been hashed through.

I read through that entire thread on TSN. I’m going to buy a tub just to reward the girl’s effort. I’m glad to hear that you think it’s a good soap.

OK, as a newb on the dark side, I’ve only shaved with 5/8 Steel, as suggested by others. What’s the difference as you branch out?

When it comes to stupid shaving ideas and their execution I employ a strict don’t ask don’t tell policy until after the offending offense, at which point the look, the eye rolling, and the discussions of how stupid I am commence.

I want to follow in kind; I just gotta figure out which tub to cast out first to make room. Problem.

I like big blades, 7/8 or 8/8, I enjoy hollow grinds as much as thick grinds but large hollow grinds tend to flex. I am also starting to appreciate razors with a smile, it makes shaving my neck easier. I find big heavy blades are easier to control and fine tune the angle. With light blades I tend to be all over the place and don’t have the fine control I get with a heavier razor.

With all razors, DE, SE or straight I prefer a heavier razor, it makes it easier to use a light touch.

The weight is the biggest difference. Also it easier to make small adjustments to the angle. Even a slight change in small blade is a big change in angle. I find it much easier to control a bigger blade.
