    Ouch.

Say you were training Muay Thai. Better story.

I was training Muay Thai and the chopsticks got away from me. Got it. Uhm, Muay Thai is some Thai variant of Chop Suey, isn’t it? One must have these little details right to make the story sound convincing, after all.

So for tonight’s shave, in the spirt of Mayhem, I thought I would do something stupid. Last month I got a vintage Robenson stockman pocket knife off the bay. Tonight, I sharpened up the spey blade that almost has a sheepsfoot profile because it has been sharpened so much. My thought was a short flat edge would work best. I took it up to 2k on the Lanskey sharpener At 25 degrees, then up to 12k by hand taking the angle down to about 12 degrees. Very well polished and sharp blade. The bottom picture is after sharpening.

Broke out my little badger and some Stirling, and went to work.

And somewhere between the handle that wouldn’t let me get close to the right angle and my sharpening ability, I ended up with a lot of irritation, three weepers, and very little whisker reduction after one pass. I tapped out and grabbed my Tech with a 40 year old blade in it and did one WTG pass. Calling this one a failure.

I do have a Schrade Old Timer stockman with a sheepsfoot blade that is longer than this one. I may give this idea another go.

Yes, it's basically a blend of 4 herbs and 4 spices, held tightly over the fire, and stirred to perfection. Prepared correctly. can be a real knockout--though unfortunately, things like plateau fractures happen occasionally when the fundamentals break down. Full contact cuisine Y'all!

    Sunday shave

It was unusually cool this morning so opted for a hot lather shave. A small weeper and a tickle from the alum left me just short of epic.

Okay, you’re in central Missouri, and I’m fairly familiar with that area. So I’m thinking these aren’t pics from an Al Qaeda training camp. Not sure if your meth lab just went up, or you are at a kegger with a tire fire. Either way, looks like you guys are having a good time.

If I know the cartel, it was probably someone else’s meth lab. Probably some competing crime family that has real cookies.

I have really been on a SE razor tear this year. Thus far this year, I have used SE razors for over 75% of my shaves. Accordingly, I decided to break out and use a DE for a little while. The Wolfman OC with 0.74mm blade gap has the blade feel of a Slim on 7 or 8 but with the efficiency that rivals that of my Cobra Classic. In reading all the reviews of the Karve razor, I have saw the D plate compared to a 0.74mm Wolfman. So this seemed like a perfect choice to get ready for the arrival of the Karve D. As expected the Nuàvia Blu was easy to lather with a scent that fills the room. Three passes had the baby in sight, so I lathered my lower neck and buffed it clean catching the baby with easy. A splash of Myrsol F Extra was a wonderful end to an epic shave. I hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday and Mother's Day.

Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: GEM PTFE
    Razor: GEM Featherweight
    Brush: Artisan badger
Soap: Jeeves of Hudson Street Bay Rum
Post: Witch hazel, Adidas Dynamic Pulse aftershave

One pass WTG shave. Wasn't going to shave today but my mother and I are meeting for lunch (my wife and little boy are out of town) and I didn't want to look rugged. My dad is out of town as well, so it'll just be the two of us. Nice and easy shave. The Featherweight works well and I don't use it often enough.

Another drug store aftershave today that is new to me: Adidas Dynamic Pulse that I picked up at Walmart. Much better skin feel than yesterday's Brut. I added some menthol crystals but will need to add some more as it could be much chillier. The scent is pretty good but I was fairly impressed with the silky feel as I applied it. Not bad at all.

    Happy Mother's Day, everyone!

The Adidas aftershaves are pretty good stuff. They leave a good face feel. Much better than most similar priced options.
