SOS: May 2018

I put a little sharper edge on my near wedge Lund with some red paste today. Wow, it moved it up a notch and provided a lovely shave. Definitely put it into a different category and I’ll add an extra lap with the red for the next shave.

I started off with Proraso Pre Shave. The Valobra Shaving Soap face-lathered well with the Jayaruh #285 brush. I did two passes with the Heljestrand Safety Razor with a Heljestrand Wedge blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayer's Lemon WH and then Mennen Skinbracer AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

My second use of the Reitzer soap and I'm so happy with it. Such a nice scent, great lather, and lots of blade glide with a very comfortable post-shave feel. A little blooming really helps it perform better - in fact this is the only soap I bloom. The Fino balm is wonderful - unscented and so gentle. The Alt Innsbruck smells beautiful (to me) and it's got a great menthol kick. BBS again although my Astra needs a change.

Tim, that is a very cool set. I still have yet to try the old blends of Old Spice, but will get around to it one of these days. Dare I say, I don't mind the current iteration and enjoy it, but I guess I don't know what I'm missing. To the connoisseur, I'm sure this is blasphemy, but ignorance is bliss! Enjoy.
