I get that same pickle smell from Stirling’s bay rum too.

    jluc smelling pretty

Good to know. I haven't tried the Stirling bay rum and now I probably won't. I don't mind the smell of pickles, as long as it's coming from pickles.

    Mother’s Day MAYhem Shave
I went out on a limb this morning and had my first shavette style shave with the Edward Scissorhands style shavette below. It actually was quite comfortable to hold and shave with; you just gotta be careful about the corners of the blade. Moving through my first pass quickly in order to avoid spousal discovery prior to going out for Mother’s Day Brunch contributed to a couple minor nicks. These started leaking enough blood that I relathered and finished two quick DE passes before my bride had time to be concerned about me creating any scars or gashes that might show up in any Mother’s Day pics that might get taken.
I’ll probably use this contraption again this month, but I’m guessing I may ultimately prefer the CJB painstick due to the longer blade. Also loved the Shavemac D01 wall of badger and the GD Ambra.

I tried Cool Wave a while back and used it one time. No skin food of any type. Just seemed like straight alcohol. The scent also reminded me of Gillette canned goo and I promptly PIFed it on.

A company called mir. @SharptoothC sent it to me for MAYhem. The trickiest part is that the lugs that secure the blade are about the size of a dull pencil point, so the blade never really “locks in place” and can get misaligned pretty easily. When I went to take this pic after my shave I had to adjust the blade quite a bit to align it. I’m using this as my excuse for this morning’s two nicks. Couldn’t have been my technique could it?:innocent

I always use a shave balm post splash. This morning when I woke up I could still smell it, so it has some staying power. Now will it replace my William's Aqua Velva or Speick as my go to splashes, not a chance but for four dollars not too bad. Heck, for four dollars, you could dump the whole thing out and how have a glass container for your Ice Blue or Clubman.

Dear Lord John , Sorry to hear about this . Hope all went well with the surgery today . Last time i fell off a ladder all i hurt was my pride luckily. Got up and ran in the house hoping the neighbors never noticed . I will see if i can design you something to help you shave while standing on one leg . Take care my friend and I wish you a speedy recovery.

Was a perfect shave today and i went to see my Mom feeling great. I hope John is feeling great soon also. Lets all pray for a speedy recovery and hope hes back on his feet soon.

There was a lively discussion over at The Soap Bloomers/Sousers/Waters of America clubhouse today. It looks like we are winding up with 2 categories. Those that hydrate their shave soap and those unenlightened folks who actually think they use it dry!

It was a fur flying time. :duel:

    Shaves 24 and 25...

Shave 24 was so so but had to finish with the Schick E3.

Shave 25, done tonight was fairly good. The Stirling Island Man was nice and slick, a fresh blade in the shavette went well, the right side of the face and the chin went good, the alum was quiet... did have to do the Schick E3 to get part of the left side of the face and some touchups. The TSD Aftershave Milk Energy splash was great. Then when I was cleaning the shavette, I dropped the blade. So only one shave for that one.

    When will I shave next?

I can imagine. Lol I prefer the knot to be damp, shove it in the soap and swish it enough to pick up a bit then finish it off by lathering on my face . Then again i'm a subscriber to Fuzzys youtube channel. Whatever works I guess they say .
