    MAYhem, not total chaos.

    Proraso Green PS soap
    Proraso Red shave soap
    Semogue 1305 boar brush
    Suribachi bowl & cool water
'55 Red Tip (A4), Astra SP blade
Alum, B&S tonic, Drakkar Noir EDT
SOTD 0518218.gif Simple prep, good soap, and a decent razor = very satisfied. No errors / DFS or better and the alum was silent. Pleasant slight burn from the leather, amber, musk and black pepper spray tonic. The bottle of DN from some time in the past gave a spritz & a half, then it quit.
    Good Shaves Y'all!

    MAYhem 2018!!!!!

May 18 - How about a little MAYHEM?!

Razor - Machine Screw and Two Nuts
    Blade - feather-yellow-box.jpg (1)
    Soap - Arko
    Brush - Semogue 620
    Post - Alum

Time to have some fun. Well, ok, some different fun. Head shave night but I skipped the pain stick and used the Merkur 23c, Arko and VDH Boar brush. No issues, nice finish. Now, on to the MAYhem!

I know I've missed some posts this month but I don't think anyone else has resurrected the "blade on a bolt" shave, so it's time. Actually, it's a blade on a machine screw, but, you know, details. Anyway, this one was done a couple of years ago or so by myself and three others on a dare and we had to use the Feather blade. No sense in being slightly stupid without upping the risk, right? I picked up the package of machine screws today, threaded the Feather on between the two nuts and was ready to go. As for the soap - Arko. Number one it's a good basic soap. Number two it's slick. I need that. For the brush I chose the Semogue 620. No need to get fancy or do it the easy with with a synthetic.

I used the Arko stick, put the brush to my face and whipped up a really nice lather. Grabbed the "razor" and took an extra second or two to make sure my angle was good on the set down. It started cutting right away and, if you think carbon blades in a Gem Junior or Kampfe are noisy, try one of these. Loudest audible I've ever heard. The blade is clearly trying to torque just a bit as it works, even with putting only minimal pressure - just enough to move it through the shave. There's no head on the razor or any other weight so some pressure is needed. The chatter is noticeable as in you can feel the blade chattering and torquing. Just have to keep it under control, hold the angle, watch the pressure - nothing to it really.

I finished the WTG pass without a problem. Lathered again for the XTG and it also went well, if a bit less effective than normal. Decided the CCS I had accomplished just wouldn't be enough. How about an ATG with this thing? Well, I can tell you it's a bit nerve wracking and potentially bloody. More than once on the ATG on my neck the blade tried to stick and dig in, even with good lather, but I stayed alert and avoided any cuts, nicks or any blood at all. The finish? High end CCS to low end DFS. Good enough to work tomorrow.

That was FUN! Further proof that it's what you know that creates the shave (and keeps you blood free). Hope you all have a great weekend!

Did yours have a washer last year? Can’t remember. Not exactly a low profile angle with that thick nut on top, either. Well done, Neal. I think I’ll stick to a popsicle stick, though!

I don't think I put a washer on, no. Can't seem to locate the pic of that one which would prove it either way. Getting and holding the angle is a bit of a trick, but honestly once you have that - it's all good.

Bad news. It all happens just outside Apple. There is no escape. Read the Apple ToS, remember what Snowden told you, and Brennan admitted. Apple is just better at making people feel good about it.

But but but, they wouldn’t un-encrypt that guy’s phone, even when the FBI got tough with them. I trust them.

Brennan said that your appliances could spy on you in web 2.0. People just don't remember what they've actually been openly told.

Blade still taking names on its third attempt. Really nice shave. Took off most of the afternoon and did house chores. Fun! Currently: about to pipe and read TSD. Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado.

    Have a great weekend!

Hmm, bar stool in front of the bathroom sink... That's not a half bad idea, I will see what I can dig up around here. Thanks, Fuzzy!

You can get your Blackberry modified with special encryption but another company selling modified Blackberry sets was shutdown and arrested.:rolleyes005: In addition to encryption they remove the GPS and camera and even sometimes the microphone. Apparently these phones are popular with not just paranoid people but also those engaged other nefarious activities.

    Saturday shave

The last shave with this razor the edge was smooth and very sharp, the edge has fallen of some so maybe back to a pasted strop. I do prefer the tallow version of Crowne and Crane, the veggie is ok but the the tallow is excellent.

    Brush: Shavemac silver tip

    SharptoothC I bite..........

The Kampfe is a great shave once you get ahold of angle. Mine is LOUD and has a lot of blade feel, but it has never bitten me.
