All right, thanks....I'll read about the soap. And now I just read about the soap. I'd say it's a possibility, but I liked a few other choices better(Leather&Smoke, Bay Rum, Barbershop). I like how he has a website dedicated to men.

Just how aggressive is that 34c? I`ve been thinking about buying one. It`s a 2 piece, so I can open the head slightly and slip a 1/2 de blade in, real simple. God Bless, Bill

Bath Soap - Pre de Provence Sandalwood (quad-milled)
Razor - Antique Gillette ABC "Empire" Razor circa 1908-1912 (fully restored/re-plated in rhodium by Razor Emporium)
    Blade - Feather HI-Stainless
Shave Brush - Ralph Lauren Safari Collection fitted with Synthetic Knot manufactured by Frank Shaving (replaced by jimjo1031)
Shave Soap - Geo F. Trumper Sandalwood Cream
Post Shave Balm - Geo F. Trumper Sandalwood Skin Food
Deodorant - Geo F. Trumper Sandalwood
Fragrance - Ralph Lauren Safari EDT

Today is further testing with the Gillette ABC Razor (trying to find the best blade for it) and will go with a Feather blade again because it did so well last time. Well, the last shave was no fluke. The Feather blade does the best job so far out the other blades I've tried (BiC CP, Astra Green, all of the Gillette color blades (yellow, green, black), Wilkinson Sword, Pol Silver, Bolzano Superinox and Kai). I don't remember testing the Shark or Derby blades, but those are the next two.

Previously, my initial blade picks to test were based on other people's comments that the ancient ABC razor is as aggressive as the Old-Types of the same era. I completely disagree. I've shaved enough times with a 1907 Old-Type to know that its angle is very aggressive and I had to find a 'middle of the road' blade that has a balance of smoothness and sharpness that shaves perfectly in it for my soft skin/steel-wool Dwarven beard hair (BiC Chrome-Platinum). The ABC Razor had a very different shave to it. The ABC razor has an angle that fails to target the hairs in a correct angle. Blades of lesser sharpness 'tug' and 'pull' when I shave. It took several blades for me to realize that what I had read about the ABC being the same as the Old-Type was very wrong. I decided to try the opposite type of blade and went with the sharpest blade (Feather). And 'boom' it worked. There was minimum, if any tugging. The Feather laughs at tough hairs at any angle. Even bad angles. For as fancy as the ABC razor looks, frankly SUCKS with every blade except the Feather. I would be willing to bet that the sharp Shark Superstainless will also shave well with it. If anything, with this ABC razor I would like an even SHARPER blade than the Feather if one exists.

One thing though, the shave was one of the best I've ever had with 3-pass BBS goodness. No cuts/weepers, great shave. So, this is the 'first' 5-star shave I have managed to have with the antique ABC razor. At least I know it's capable of shaving well with the right blade.

Lemon Sugar & Frankincense & Myrrh Soap

Dark overcast for the pic, but hey, it happens. A very good shave today, two passes with some touch up for a very smooth BBS shave.

Not much to shave today, but since the Clubman Reserve came in this morning, the scent was just an amazing citrus and Gin&Tonic mix while keeping a bit of the classic Clubman Pinaud scent. A refreshing take that is perfect for the summer days. The Gamechanger went about it’s business with a 2 pass shave that was smooth as silk. No complaints at all today. Have a great day and shaves Gents... :)

Actually, any "letting go" of my grief" will return as we approach the Colorado trip-as the main purpose of it is to scatter the ashes where she wanted. Thus it will be a see-saw effect for me. It may cut into the 3 days just before that(the actual scattering that is)as I'll be doing a "Lewis&Clark" of parts of the city of Golden, and want to be at my best, as I gather information, meet people, etc. A move there is still on my mind.

Sunday evening shave, 3 days growth...

    • Gillette President
    • vintage Rexall carbon
    • Cremo Cooling
2 pass BBS, no issues. Wonderful; sometimes that delicious sharp grabbiness of a carbon makes for an exhilarating shave. Finished up with a generous splash of witch hazel. Now if you'll excuse me I got a van of furniture I got to get to Yuma.

It’s a very nice scent. Refreshing and more of a modern/contemporary vibe to it. I will admit that I am not a huge fan of the classic Clubman scents, they are ok but cloying and not my favorites. But the ones that I picked up, Gent’s Gin & Whiskey Woods are darn right amazing. They still have that slight Clubman dna, but more modern and mass appealing I guess. Downside? Longevity is at the bottom of the pack. Amazing though in those first 30 minutes.... :happy088:

A fragrance that would go extremely well with this set would be Xerjoff Nio (from the Shooting Stars collection). The Bergamot is the freshest acidic citrus I've ever smelled and it has very distinct, yet separately detectable notes of neroli and vetiver in the mix. IMO, it may be the greatest citrus fragrance ever made, but it's extremely expensive. In this case you get what you pay for. It smells as natural as it gets and lasts a good amount of time while other citruses smell ordinary or synthetic, or if they smell natural they just don't last. This one smells as real as it gets and lasts a good amount of time (6-8 hours, which is 'impossible' for most citruses unless they are synthetic smelling).
