It will come with time, the learning curve is longer with a straight. It took me 100 shaves before I consistently delivered excellent shaves.

Use an empty shavette to test different angles and grips to figure out how to shave your neck. Until then keep doing your clean up with a DE, that’s wha I did, it took me about 30 shaves before I dropped the DE cleanup.

Good evening Gents, hope your Sundays are going well. I decided to take a step back from last night's mayhem shave, and went with a tried and true setup sans the Top Choice razor blade. A blade which is certainly serviceable, plenty sharp enough, my only real gripe would be the blades isn't terribly smooth. The Mike's wiped up a nice slick lather, I absolutely love the sent of the Pine and Cedar, my nose gets a heavy Cedar note. Finished a DFS+ shave off with what is becoming my favorite aftershave, the William's Aqua Velva.
In other news, the other day I bought a Nivea aftershave lotion(splash) from India, couldn't find any reviews or feedback on the product. I also won an auction for a user grade New LC, for 18 bucks. Both excited and apprehensive about using it. Have a great Monday everyone.

Another good shave with the Injectomatic. I think the blade is done now, though. I don’t know if Clubman goes with Coconut or not, but once you put on the Clubman, whatever went before it goes sayonara.
I am off tomorrow as it is a long weekend here. I have shaved both yesterday and today and think I’ll take tomorrow off and come back with a new blade on Tuesday.
    Have a great evening all!

Razor - Ever Ready 1914 LC
    Blade - [IMG] (3)
    Soap - Soap Commander Courage
    Brush - 30DC LE
    Post - Alum

One more Lather Catcher to get into the mix. I bought a pair of the 1914 Ever Ready razors late last year and haven't given them a try yet. Since they're identical, I just chose the one that was in slightly better condition, though they are both well preserved. Moved the Treet carbon blade over from the Kampfe, used the LE brush with Soap Commander for a great lather, and gave this razor a try.

The 1914 is a more compact razor than the Gem Junior or Kampfe, and Wait's Compendium even speaks of the "vestigial" lather catcher that is featured in this razor. IT definitely has less of a "scoop" on it, and the blade loads simply. Open the top cap, secure the blade on the blade stops and close the cap. Ready to go. Didn't take them long to start simplifying things as they continued to try and improve on design back then.

My first pass was very smooth and nice except for one bite on my right jawline. Didn't feel it, just saw the blood after the pass. I put a moment's pressure on it and it closed right up. Not sure what happened but it wasn't anything to worry about. The XTG pass went extremely well. This razor is quite nimble and easy to get and keep angle on. Very effective, though a lot quieter than the older LC's. Missed the feedback.

Touchups after two passes landed a near-BBS. Extremely nice shave that solidifies my respect for this style of razor. I also have a Gem 1912 that is similar and have used it before so know it's a great shaver as well. So, in my collection of SE razors I have the Gem 1912, Ever Ready 1914, and OCMM that all suite me just fine. If I add the Gem Junior and perhaps the Kampfe, I'll have four or five awesome vintage SE razors ready and waiting at my command. Good thing I'm immune to any of the AD's and ignore all attempts at enabling. Otherwise I might be in trouble!

Here's to a great week ahead of the holiday next weekend!

Hi. My name is Chris. I am a shave stick fanatic. Every time I use a shave stick, it lays down a layer of soap directly against the beard. This remains even after I complete a pass. In my experience, a shave stick lays down the best base for a solid open blade shave, with a minimum of both effort and cleanup....

And now, a random Samurai announcement:

@Edison Carter , though confused with his soap preferences, has prompted me to make the word "adulterated" a thing. Just wait, it will happen. As far as his soaps, who knows, but he raised a good point.

And now, a relaxing evening at home commences. Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado.

    Have a nice Monday!

    O Canada!

In a proper act of retribution for sending Bieber down here while retaining Shania Twain, the fine and proud nation below the 49th sends one of its most enigmatic antiheroes to show the CFL how we do it in SEC land. You're welcome....

And...this post is brought to the 30DC by Nickelback, Avril Lavigne's lipstick holder, @jtspartan and hosers everywhere, loyal to the Maple Leaf or not.

@jtspartan - he better watch his back in the CFL. It's full of USA blue chip defensive linemen who never got a chance to make a fool of themselves in the NFL.

Neil Young is a national treasure.

    Monday Shave

Today was the 3rd 4 pass shave on the Feather Pro Blade and it has lost some sharpness, which resulted in my being short of BBS but still well shaven. I had to dial back my normal aggressiveness to ensure there was no irritation.

    Brush: Shavemac silver tip

The CFL will suit his style of play, as long as he isn’t a big idiot. That’s asking a lot of him based on his time in Cleveland. FWIW, He signed with Hamilton- it is our ‘Steel Town’ and would be quite similar to Cleveland in some ways.

The larger field should be to his advantage, though I doubt he's still as quick as he was in college. Lots of mileage on that kid, much self-inflicted. On an other note, Hamilton nightlife probably just got way better.

That's what I'm afraid of with my current daily, there's a bit to much play in the center bar for correct alignment of the blade when closing. With the techniques posted here I get less cuts, even none on the first try (messed with direction yesterday... ouch), so yeah, they're good.

Status updates of the kickstarted project show 11 April to be the date that the first sample was made and 7 May to be the date of the first production batch of 200. (14th shipped) So I'm not that surprised. Got the tip here, so I guess I'm not the first that'll be using it.

I'll mess around a bit with it and after cleaning the mess, I'll report in. :D

I use a 3pc long comb with the fat bar handle. I'd compare it to a Fatip, though I like the Gillette's handle more. "My Piccolo is not the Grande" - (I put that in quotes in case, well, you know). Point is they have similar geometry, especially when the OC never touches your face. Keeping that blade closer to flat, ride the cap, on the skin hardly gives the safety comb a chance to make furrows in your lather. So choose a blade you've found you like, wet soapy lather, and those other two technique mantras still won't be a magic fix. They will give better results with all your present or incoming gear. Think about a 30 day Rule.

I think I know why rub the puck on my face doesn't satisfy when I'm doing it. I could shave every 24 hours. I choose to on a 36 - 48 hour reset. If I grew enough stubble to load a serious amount of soap it might serve me better. Could also be a combo of face lathering with a synthetic knot. When I discovered bowls I was focusing on boars. I can see an inspired Focus here!

A Futur day today- it always hangs on the stand in the bathroom and I simply forgot it was Fatip month.

Loaded with an Astra, Arko Soap, Speick Balm and Eau Sauvage to set the mood for this week.
Setting #5 for the first two, then wound it back to #2 for ATG and the usual awkward spots. It occurred to me half way through the shave I was meant to use the Fatip this month. Post shave feel is excellent though alum a little tingly in a couple of spots.

Shave longevity in the day will get a little unplanned test.

If I were in charge all weekends would be at least 3 days. At least I was able to start the work week with an excellent shave. The CH2 Synthetic is my favorite synthetic brush and made short work of lathering up the AOS Ocean Kelp. I was a skeptic in the begin but I have come to enjoy this scent with its herbal citrus and aquatic notes. Three passes and touch ups ended with me catching the baby. A truly epic shave this morning. A splash of Fine Platinum and I am off to fight the morning commute. I hope everyone has a great Monday.
