It's a powerful scent all right.....I have the Stoylin Spice AS&Soap, and Doc Ezlovan made sure THAT scent would last quite a long time, too :). Course it's VERY close to Shulton, IMO.

Hope it eases up long enough to get the ceremony in.

Thanks, John! I definitely see what you mean. The angles for the Supply and PAL Adjustable are very different than the Schick angle. I never got a good shave with the PAL razors. Now I'm clued in as to why because the angles were totally off.

Smells medicinal to me. I read the Australian Armed Forces were issued a small bottle during WWII. I have a bottle of teatree E.O. purchased for a specific purpose - a discolored toenail. This stuff kills toe nail fungus if painted on with a Q-tip once a week.

Madness. MAYhem. I decided to pull out and reorganize my razors tonight. I didn't realize how crazily out of hand it's gotten. 54. That's the current number of implements available for facial hair removal in my house, not counting cartridge razors.

And now, looking at them, I haven't a clue what I want to shave with tonight.

EDIT: 55. I forgot the Edwin Jagger.

I don't know... personally, I'd go with the Aristocrat.

The Edwin Jagger ended up the winner for tonight as compensation for getting left out of the group photo.

    MAYhem 2018!!!!!

    May 24 - It's a Marvy kind of day!

    Razor - Simplex
    Blade - [IMG] (3)
    Soap - Marvy
    Brush - Marvy
    Post - Alum

Well, I dug out the Marvy hiding in my den. I've had the puck since 2016 in a baggie and the brush was put back all neatly in its box after the last time as well. It's MAYhem. Let's give the Marvy a go. The brush is a small boar brush and I remember it shedding pretty good back in the day. It's not particularly anything other than a brush.

My recollection of the soap is not good. As in.....I pretty much hated it. Had trouble getting a usable lather in 2016, and it dissipated faster than Williams under a fan. I have a few shaves under my belt since then with other soaps so my first move was to get some water just on the top of the puck and give the brush a longer than normal soap. I stuck with the Simplex razor and Voskhod for its third shave.

When I started loading the puck I noticed it made a lot of soapy bubbles. Kind of like dish soap. I kept working on it until it seemed well loaded then went for the face lather. I was actually able to get good coverage, though the big bubbles were clearly visible. Since I had lather on all of my face I grabbed the razor quick and went for a fast WTG. The lather actually hung around for that pass. I also noticed that the smell of the soap has apparently diminished by sitting in the baggie for two years. Marvy has a scent that I do not like, but it's not noticeable anymore. Second lather was equal to the first and the XTG with touchups was a bit slower than the WTG. By the time I was done I was working on very little lather but it was slick enough to get the job done. In fact, when I checked the shave after the alum (which was a bit warm) I was surprised to find the best shave with the Simplex yet! How in the world did that happen?

A successful run with Marvy soap and brush. Either two years of shaving has given me skills to conquer even the worst soap, or a miracle just dropped in on me. Not complaining either way.

Friday is on the horizon and the start of the Memorial Day Weekend. I hope all of you are able to get out and enjoy the weekend as we roll into the Summer season. As for me - it's the biggest sale of the year and the hours are long and grueling. I'll still be here - but I may later than usual. Have a great one!

Evening Gentlemen. Got a great 3 pass BBS shave tonight, used the Nivea shave cream for the first time tonight, it performed fairly well, I've been on a bit of a shave cream kick these last couple of weeks, still have the Speick and Musgo Real shave creams to try from my collection, so far my favorites have been the LEA and the Palmolive. Have a great Friday everyone.

Throw them all in a rotation and you'd use each one about 7 times during the year. If you don't have enough to cover 365 days without doubling up you still have room to grow! Nice collection.

Not picking on you, Neal. Can I pick your brain? It's about this Marvy thing.
Yeah, me too. I tossed my puck before it had a chance to not smell funny. How would you characterize the scent?

You're a better shaver than me for coaxing a positive review of their soap or brush. I hear the Big M rubber shaving mug is nice. See? I said I wasn't pickin' on you.

How would I characterize Marvy's scent? Hmmmmm. It's almost - ummmmmmm- moldy comes to mind. Hard to put a better word to it. Just - bad. So I guess leaving it out for two years before dealing with it would be a recommended course.

Speaking of the mug - I noticed on the bay they have Marvy shave sets available with the soap, brush, and mug all included. I don't need anymore soap or a brush but I think a Marvy mug could be a cool piece in the old den. I mean, it is a point back to some shaving history and their barber poles are great.
