I think that Marvy is one of those soaps, like Williams and MWF, which performs its best when used daily (i.e., it wants to absorb a lot of water, etc.). The problem is that its best is still in the range of barely adequate. As a result, one might call MWF "eccentric" or call Williams "quirky", but Marvy just ends up being "weird".

I think I read somewhere that smell is supposed to have Almond notes. That may be true, but only in a Dollar Store cereal kind of way. OTOH, when I take my daughter to Children's Hospital Of Philadelphia (CHOP), I swear that they must clean the restrooms with Arko. (I actually like Arko and don't mind the scent; this just hits my nose the same way.)

A long weekend is just what the Doctor ordered. While the C&E West Indian Lime is easy to lather and has a pleasant scent, it is not a favorite of mine. I decided to mix things up today with a 2 pass shave. I went ATG followed by XTG. Skipping the other pass did require more touch ups along my jawline and buffing on my lower right neck. At any rate I ended up with a fantastic shave. A splash of F&C Capri kept the citrus theme going. I hope everyone has a great Saturday.

 

This weekend, at some point. I’ve been so busy at work, I’ve not been shaving much during the week when I’m gone. So when I get home on Friday, three bands aren’t my first choice to scrub on 3-4 days worth of beard.

Sometimes, those are heading best days. I am smoking a pork shoulder, so I will be home most of the day, too.

Post: Witch hazel, Stirling Glacial Lemon Chill aftershave, Stirling Glacial Unscented balm

No time for a picture. Down on the Gulf Coast with the family. Tropical Storm Alberto is coming so we're trying to do some activities before we become shut-ins for 24 or 36 hours.

This was a tremendous shave. Haven't used Stirling in a while. What amazing lather. Slick, shiny, yogurty....all the best things you want. A cold finish from Glacial Lemon Chill splash and some Glacial balm. Terrific.

Posted my thoughts in the stirling thread.

First shave with the Glacial Lemon Chill and sweet jeebus it was a kick in the nuts. Brought a tumbler of ice and dumped it in the sink for this shave. Figured I might as well go all in.... It started out great. Loved the scent and then mid-way through the first pass, it became over powering. I really thought about skipping the second pass, but did it anyway. It really wasn't pleasant and I tried to get through it as quickly as possible. The ice water splash had me using some colorful vernacular. I will give it another shot after a few days, but it is bordering on way too much for me. I am sure that showering with the sample of Glacial Spearmint Bath Soap didn't help. Loved the scent and like using it, but it wasn't pleasant in the nether regions.

 

That sounds good Jim! I'm firing up the smoker tomorrow, a couple of racks of ribs and some pork belly burnt ends. I'm getting hungry thinking about it.
