Rescue Razor: Schick Platinum / Nacet (2)

For today's attempt at mayhem I decided to see if I could get a Gem Industrial CS blade to cut a little better by giving it a few laps on the leather courtesy of the Ever-Ready automatic stropper. Started off with my cheeks and nope, this blade still didn't cut any better and was tugging badly. If this were my first experience with SE's I would have run and never looked back. Ditched the G-Bar in favor of the Schick Platinum with a Nacet still in it and AH, buttery smooth and sharp. finished off 3 passes and just missed the baby due to some increasingly tough whiskers on my chin. Have a great day my friends!

When I was in the market for a brush, I hit Jared up for advice. I was initially looking at the Kent BK12. Thankfully, I went with Jared's recommendations - A Thater 3 Band, and a Simpson Duke 3 in Best. They're different brushes, but they're both excellent performing brushes. The Thater has a crap-ton of backbone, but is very, very soft on the face. The Duke 3 also has a lot of backbone, but has a good amount of scrub. Both knots are extremely dense, but the Thater has better flow-through. You can't go wrong with either, but I highly recommend getting both! :D Honestly, if I had to pick only one of the two, the Thater would get the nod. I love the Duke, but man, there's just something awesome about the Thater!

I think I would have been very unhappy with the Kent (you would be too, based on what you've said), since I'm not a soft & floppy brush kinda guy. And, I was able to get two brushes for less than one Kent.

    Gillette NEW LC, Polsilver
    Alum, Pinaud Citrus Musk
SOTD 05292018.gif Spur of the moment choices on the software. Sheep! Not SHEEP since it's neither MWF nor the Electric Stirling. Still it's mutton tallow and gives very good glide and residual. Easy lather from a slightly soused sample puck tucked in the old Old Spice mug. Next to oldest boar brush has attained a level of softness such that there's little scrub, but it makes lather like a champ. Though the OC performed well the blade is about done. I've noticed it's less than stellar performance the last two shaves. Thought about popping in a freshie but went with it. Three full passes plus clean up and the alum told me I was right. Polsilver Super Iridium just doesn't give the same performance as a Feather or Astra SP. Still got a decent reduction with no errors. More than usual sting from the high alcohol AS. I'll live, and I'm wide awake now.
    Good Shaves Y'all!

Thank you Andrew. I'm enjoying the P-au-P and think it will go on my shopping list. I ought to get the matching AS, but for now that EDC works fine. The scent of lemongrass is pleasant, not sure what the Haitian Vetiver gives to the overall, and mutton tallow - while evident at first doesn't smell like a greasy animal. Overall a top shelf product in my den.
