  1. Sunday June 3 - just basics

    Gillette SensorExcell (5)
JR #267 birdseye maple and boar (Omega Pro 49)
    Horn quaich lather bowl
    Vitos Eucalyptus shaving cream
Alum and Aqua Velva Classic Ice Blue in glass bottle

The closest I can come to a drugstore shave -- even the knot in the custom brush was originally from a drugstore class Omega boar brush.

I estimate that the Vitos is at most four shaves away from being finished.

Two passes brought me to a DFS nearing BBS territory. On its fifth outing, the cart still seems smooth and sharp. I have no idea how long it will last.

Hope everyone has a good Sunday.
  2. Thank you all. It was a success, despite torrential rains all day. Thank God we rented a place and didn’t do it at home. The only ones who got wet were Grampa and I, grilling under a Cooleroo.

  3. What a great photo. You have reached a point where you are taking the simplest of shot, and making them look detailed. Great job.

Hope the party went off well. Damn they are a lot of work.

  4. So, you’re saying you really liked it?

I really like lavender, but in the same sort of way people use the urinal cake description for Arko, some lavender scents can have a Glade cover scent association for me. I can see where it might not be the best scent to use over a strong tallow.

  5. Great looking Shave. The colors in the pic make it look fun.

  6. That was my first run at the CL Lavender, which I bought not knowing it was a Bison Tallow soap. I think back upon my return to wet shaving and I recall actually trashing a puck of AoS Tallow Sandalwood. I remember the scent back then reminding me of Ben Nye Grease Paint make-up. Hated it. Now, I can't get enough of the old AoS soaps. So, I imagine that I will develop a tolerance for this Bison soap too. What I can't tolerate is Boar stench. I lathered up the Omega Boar last night with Proraso green and let it sit overnight. Someone advocated putting it in the freezer, but I am not that desperate yet.
  7. Thank you Jared. I am happy to say that our party was a success like yours. I still can't believe how much work goes into these things.

    Delta Echo New Short Comb
    Feather
    Wild West Brushworks 30mm Tuxedo
    Nuàvia Blu

I have always liked the look of the Delta Echo razors and wanted to try a New Short Comb. When this one came up on another BST at a great price, I just could not help myself. The razor arrived yesterday and I just couldn't wait to give it a try. This WWB with its huge Tuxedo knot is a lather making machine and made short work of whipping up the Blu. I changed up the routine and went with a traditional 3 pass shave and took my time. After buffing my neck and touch ups along my jawline, I ended with a easy BBS. Truly an Epic shave. The SC felt very similar to the LC while being a little more efficient. I hope everyone has a great Sunday.

  14. I like how you are actually buying more stuff so that you can get down to basics.

This, my friends, is truly professional level WSPR*. I applaud.

  17. A short soak, or a couple of short soaks in Oxy Clean will end it.

I think it’s Larry from Whipped Dog that sends out a little packet of it with his knots.
  18. Neat new razor. The Delta Echo’s are really such a cool way to re plate.

  20. I had the VDH Luxury soap a while back and actually did a titanic with it. Really liked the scent. I recall that it needed more water than you think it does. It benefited from sousing. It worked well, as you mention, but isn't a top tier soap by any means. Serviceable and gets the job done.
