Just the Basics June/Just for Fun June - take your pick

    June 5

    Razor - Gillette Tech
    Blade - [IMG] (2)
Soap - Van Der Hagen Deluxe
    Brush - Omega BoS 10066
Post - Alum, AV Ice Blue (Wednesday morning)

Another long day at work today. Sale changeover day, actually had customers (of course, when there is other stuff to do) and a few problems to deal with. Another night to be happy to be home and ready to shave. It ends days like this on a positive note for me.

Same basic setup as last night except a brush change. The Omega 10066 which made the VDH Deluxe behave as always. I got a nice slick lather out of it and took three passes again with the Treet blade. Another fine DFS finish that is good enough for tomorrow. I'm enjoying splashing a bit of classic AS on in the mornings. Nice way to start the day. So far nobody has seemed bothered so I'll keep at it. Just hate to set off allergies as I'm closing in on the big money.

    Hope your day was great!

You apparently didn't get the memo from Cartel HQ. The Sharp Stars were all recalled due to the fact they are the worst possible blade you could ever have the incredible misfortune of using. Both the Russian and Yakuza clans have agreed to take the blades back. We'll split them between myself and @Bama Samurai to properly dispose of them. (We know what we're doing....you can trust us.) You can contact us for the shipping address. Just a bit of customer service for members and associates to keep them from suffering the horrible, well more like dreadful, awful, howlingly bad shaves that the Sharp Stars are so known for. You're buying this, right? :innocent

The Old Type is still one of the best ever made, and yours appears to be in fantastic shape. Wonderful shave.

Average high for June is 79...

Helps get me in the right mood for the meet up.

Who was the genius who picked STL in mid July?

    ;)

I was seduced by the Dark Side, and enjoying the gleam of Gillette nickel plating. I dismissed the plastic handles and gizmo heads of Schicks. Until Chris @Bama Samurai sent me one. The J-1 was my first Schick. Good razor!

Go big (gap) or go home! Work that Focus and it's going to continue to pay off in better shaves.

    Gillette SensorExcell (7)
Supply Co Silvertip Fibre synthetic brush
    Vitos Eucalyptus shaving cream
    Clubman VIBR

I face lathered the Vitos Eucalyptus shaving cream with the synthetic brush tonight and got one last excellent lather from it. The tub is now EMPTY, finished, ended, gone, deceased, departed from my den. Adam @Drygulch, please make a note of one more killed tub for me.

Two passes with the cart left me with a DFS, near BBS. I think the cart is starting to feel a little less sharp and a little more scraping though. Perhaps a week is its limit?

A palmful of VIBR left me with a cheery Island finish.

    Screwtape A Shaving Butterfly

It's a holdover from MAYhem. I revisited two of my very first manual razors - the twin-bladed non-pivoting Gillette Trac II and the slightly later pivoting Gillette SensorExcell. (I then switched exclusively to electrics and missed all the later multi-bladed gizmos.). After finding out just how much of a difference a good brush lathering good soap followed by riding the cap, skin stretching and no pressure could make even to a cart shave, I decided the Trac II and SensorExcell would be useful air travel razors.

I then started experimenting to see how many shaves the carts were good for. So far, I have 7 on the SensorExcell and it's still doing okay. Which has all taken me past May and into June, so I have just declared the carts to be Basic Drugstore Razors and am carrying on with my tests under June's theme.

One thing I am undecided on so far: I found one of those razor cartridge sharpening systems in my cupboard and am debating whether I will see if it can do as claimed and resharpen the carts once they are dull...

Of course, I just won a Gem G-Bar in the most recent TSD Raffle. It arrived today and I am eager to try it out, which may affect what I do here...

    Karve CB - D Plate
    Feather
    30 DC LE with Tuxedo
    Soapy Science Lollipop Citrus

With this new consulting contract, I am going to have a lot of early mornings. I guess its a good thing that I am a morning person. :) Canada Post and USPS exceeded expectations and my new Karve razor was delivered 2 days earlier than anticipated. I went with the D Plate which has a blade gap of 0.98mm. Given the neutral blade exposure there is less blade feel than the Timeless 0.95mm. I felt I should give the new razor a test right out of the gate and went with my modified 2 pass shave. I started off with the first pass ATG followed a XTG pass. The razor really did a wonderful job on my neck and jawline with touch ups being easy and smooth. Overall I might just have a winner in this razor. A splash of Fine Italian Citrus and I am off to my office before going to a client site. I hope everyone has a great Wednesday.
