I kick myself for not picking up a bottle of KMF lime when I had the chance locally. Now it's not on the shelves anymore.

DONE. Finally down with the 30 shaves with the shavette. Only about 3 months and a few days late. Shaving with the shavette wasn't as bad as I was expecting. Like my limited experience with the straight, it looks scarier then it is.

So having completed that, I went back to my Schick E3. I decided to go ahead and splurge with Regiment soaps, and got the Grove, Beachmaster, and Top Gun (because who doesn't feel the need for speed). Tonight I decided to use the Grove soap, and it was absolutely great. Super easy to lather, smooth shaving, and a great scent.

    I highly recommend Regiment soaps.

Good evening guys! And another day of fine shaves and great photos!

Nice shave from the Timeless/Sharp Star combo. I did struggle with the lather, user error because I've gotten fine lathers from PdP in the past. What causes lather to dry and disappear? Too much water, too little water? Any advice appreciated.

Have a great night fellas! [IMG]

I found this nifty GEM Micromatic Clog Pruf during a brief impulse stop at lunch today. It was super clean, and paired up with an Old Spice mug that had seen better days and a nameless brush that looked like it had mated with Cujo. The razor just didn't look like it fit with the rest. It gleamed. It beamed. It shone a light right into my peripheral vision and beckoned me to it. I got them to separate it from the other crap, and it went home with me for a very decent price.

Of course, I had to shave with it today, and it treated me well. Very, very well. Looking back over the last couple of months, I find that I have been leaning more and more to my SE razors. Not entirely, but they've gotten more than 50% of the work, and that's saying something.[IMG][IMG][IMG]

    Just an awesome combo, Randy.
Great photo, Jim. As for soaps not holding their lather, I have found that sticky and stringy usually means not enough water and taking a soap past its breaking point with water often results in a runny mess. Really airy could even be not enough product, actually. Often if you don't have enough water it is more 'goopy' than airy if that makes any sense.
Sounds like a great find today, Chris. Congrats.

Just the Basics June/Just for Fun June - take your pick

    June 6

    Razor - Gillette Tech
    Blade - [IMG] (2)
Soap - Van Der Hagen Deluxe
Brush - Tweezerman Badger (Is there a cheaper brush?)
Post - Alum, Old Spice (Thursday morning)

Turn up your speakers. Ok, so don't, but......do you hear that sucking sound coming from Cartel HQ? Hear it? Yeah, that one. That's the sound of a Tweezerman badger brush in use. I found this thing in among some other items I still hadn't unpacked because I rarely use them and decided to give it a go. While I claim the Omega Pro 48 as the first "real" brush I bought, the Tweezerman is the first "actual" brush I bought, not counting the VDH kit. I pondered long and hard back in 2014 whether to buy the Escali or the Tweezerman. I finally decided on the Tweezerman because the Escali was getting very bad reviews. I may have missed the ones on the Tweezerman. Both, I suspect, are equally bad. Shedders, so floppy it's nearly impossible to load or make a lather with...I mean....HORRIBLE.

But, I managed to get it to work well enough to get a workable lather for the Tech and Treet. And, after three passes yet another DFS is in the books. So, even with brushes, technique can win out as long as it isn't actually broken. And those cheap badgers aren't broken. They just suck.

That's six days of Just the Basics. Tomorrow - a few days of Just for Fun!!!

That looks like the shave kit for the most interesting man in the world. If he shaved. ;)

+1 Light bubbles like dish washing detergent? Use more product. The worse that will happen is you waste a little soap. Jim @jluc - is that a hard puck soap?

Thanks to the artists who make them available!
:eatdrink047:to Tom @twhite. I saw he has drawings up to rival Jim @Jayaruh's new wood OC SE. Real horror show ultra shaving MAYhem from these two guys.
