No picture today. Another day with the Toggle and B&M 42. I think I've found my setting for the toggle, and it isn't Setting Neal. At 6, I get pretty good shaves. I was thinking about this today, as I twisted it up to 8. I have no issues with blade exposure at that level, and do fine with wide open blades. What I have trouble with is when a blade isn't well supported and it chatters. 6 seems to be the point to the Toggle with no blade chatter. I would like more blade feel, but not if the shave isn't smooth. I got a patch of little weepers under my chin today, but they closed up with cold water. DFS, and good for Friday.

I guess my "focus" has morphed into "get a great shave" month...
As this soap was "blooming" :), all the time in the shower, I was debating putting it and the 4711 cologne on a BST thread, figuring since it is now become "unobtanium", I would at least recover my investment. I just am not thrilled with the PAA. I know there are shavers out there that swear by the soap, but I am not one of them. Sure, they have great containers and labels---some of the best in the industry, but is the soap any good? I mean, come on, I have some of the all-time greats to choose from: AoS Tallow, Jabonman, Vintage Williams, MWF, Czech & Speake, Mike's, B&M, Valobra, and on and on. Heck, even Cella (block) is a great soap. Where does PAA fit into this equation?
So now I am showered, dressed and headed back to the sink for the shave. I poured off the tablespoon of bloom water---Some "nay-sayers" seem to believe that we Bloomers put a cup or more of water on the soap, whereas a
ny knowledgeable Bloomer will tell you it only takes a small amount of water to achieve the hydration effect we "wet shavers" are looking for, and start to load the brush. Side note: I LOVE my Rubberset brush. :) What a gem!
I am determined to get a shiny, slick lather that borders on "loose", but NOT "runny". To the Aesop bowl I go, whipping my brush into a frenzy. Halfway through I clear the breach and dip my entire brush into the sink water, shake off some and back I go. This my friends is WAY wetter than I normally venture. The PAA stood its ground and proclaimed: "Bring it on, big boy!" And I did. And it soaked it all up!

The results were quite possibly the greatest PAA (formally HTGAM and whatever iterations in between) lather that I have ever achieved.
The scent is still just a 5/10, but the lather quality was a solid 8 1/2.
The Tech and the 7 O'Clock slip-slided away across my now-healed skin and BBS was achieved in three rounds.

Great photo and report, Joseph! I've never tried PAA. Never had the opportunity, which is okay because I have so many other great soaps to choose from. Have a great Friday!

First time I’ve been able to post a shave pic or report in 3 days. Trying to stay on focus, so have used this razor/blade and soap all week. I’ve rotated through brushes and drug store ‘esque’ Splashes- Clubman, Florida Water and Booster the last 3 days. I’ll move on to another ‘basic’ set up for next week.
Quick two pass shave this morning, but had a few longer, relaxed 3 pass shaves the past few days. This Tech is a nice shaver. I guess there are reasons why the basics of the design lasted for 40 years.
Haven’t kept up very well this week with posts and responses, but have enjoyed reading the thread in between work-related stuff into the evenings. Looking forward to the weekend for sure.
    Have a great day all!

The Rex sounds like a winner after one day, Jim. A very nice picture of it as well.
Looks like it was a beautiful trip, Charlie. Have fun on the tour today!
Nice photo effect, Clint. Must not look at Karve...Must not look at Karve...Must not look at Karve...
Nice travel combo, Brian. Tabac! I haven’t pulled that for ‘Just the Basics June’ yet. Next week sometime, I think.
What an awesome write up and photo, Joseph. I love the look of those old Rubbersets, too!

Today’s shave was brought to me by the letter S, the color orange (and orange-ish), and by one of our resident 30DC enablers, um, I mean members, Jared @PickledNorthern .

The Supply Injector is on loan from Jared, and is was him who officially turned me onto Stirling products.

Today was my second use of the Supply, however, I didn’t have time to post yesterday’s shave.

The Supply razor is a beautiful instrument, albeit an industrial looking one. The box looks strangely like an Apple device could be inside. The razor itself?…I wouldn’t have been too surprised to see “Designed by Apple in California” in small print on the back of the box, nor would I’ve been shocked to learn that Jony Ive himself designed it. It could’ve been named the “iRazor”, or “iSupply”. Which, would certainly be better than “Air Supply”.

The razor has a significant amount of heft. The design is straightforward and simple, and very well thought-out. But, how does it shave? Well…the jury is still out. It’ll probably take, I dunno….six months to a year to formulate a conclusion. :D
This IS for Science, after all, right??

I finally kicked my sample of Stirling Satsuma - a refreshing scent I really enjoyed. And, if there weren’t a pile of other soaps to work on, including some that haven’t been opened, it would be on the “buy right now” list.

After an “inconclusive” ultra-smooth 3-pass shave (using the “Classic Shave Setting” plate, as it’s called), I splashed on some Stirling Orange Chill witch hazel, and followed that with a generous dose of Glacial Electric Sheep…I’m good to go.

I hope everyone has a fantastic Friday - and great shaves!

Thank you Jason. I’ll keep praise of the Karve to a minimum. I will say that I ordered both the E and F plates as additions to my D plate.
