It must be Monday. Congratulations on your first lathering. I used the High Mountain White for the first time today, and it was kinda stinky, too. HA! All natural. Enjoy.
All natural Boar BO. Badgers can get pretty funky too. My Stirling Finest oozed this brown gunk for a LONG time.
Tuesday, May 29 The Rubberset is also a terrific bowl-lathering brush. As I noted in my SOTD photo, the Omega 49 knot is already softer than the Thäter Premium Boar. $10 vs. $85
First of all, it wasn't $85 for JUST a knot. It was for a Thäter Beehive Handle as well. But, what I really got with the Thäter Premium Boar was.......TAKEN.
Beautiful brushes so I had to jump in... Found this one: No numbers anywhere I can find. Was going boar but this High Mountain White Badger just looked so good... so operation started: And Then operation completed: Plan to give it a spin Saturday. Tom
When Darkbulb started this thread nearly four years ago, if you wanted a R-400, that's what you looked for. Now the choices are original, vintage, and still limited by that production run, or two other options. With several companies making reproductions, and the artisan / craftsmen producing respectful repros it's opened the door for anyone to enjoy the style of the R-400. I got in with an unnumbered original, but traded it off after I received a B-400. Old School is cool, New Wave is rave! (Welcome to the Club @brit ) Tapatalk Via Kyocera
I stopped looking for a Rubberset 400, when @twhite made me a B400, with a Natural Boar(very soft). I've since acquired a re-knotted RazoRock 400, with a High Mountain Badger knot. No more thoughts of Rubberset 400's, when I can grab a RazoRock 400 for $20, and put any knot I want in it. ..
Generally, in life, you get what you pay for. A $20 dollar brush is just that, a $20 dollar brush. Anyway YSYW. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
$20 RazoRock 400 handle. I put a Whipped Dog Knot inside. Solid Aluminum handle. Darn well built. Holds the knot in well. Looks great, and feels great, in the hand. The High Mountain Badger feels great. So, $20(handle) + $27(HM Badger knot) = $47 of darn good deal. But, I guess it must not be that good, because the whole thing didn't cost an arm and a leg.
Not saying you’re wrong. Make your own choices. Both of them do the same thing in the end. Make lather. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have close to 35 rubbersets ( originals ) and about 6 /7 new recreation from razorock to crown king ... theres no difference except the fact that one is about 100 yrs old and it outlasted its previous users , I think that's where the fascination comes in for me ... the history implied
