Did anyone see the bottom dial fatboy up for sale on a popular auction site? It has a BIN price of $8,000. I think I’ll pass on it, but feel free to jump on it.
His ambiguous description, full of carefully chosen words, is deceiving at best and IMO, the people that have bid over $2200 deserve what they are going to receive. (His reserve could be $10,000) Don't misunderstand my post. I am not criticizing anyone who wants to spend their own money, but this entire ad reeks of BS.
I own a Bottom Dial so I follow current pricing. This item has been sold and relisted several times. There is something funky going on. The razor is a 1-9 adjustable and not the very rare and uncommon 1-5 prototype. The case is the major draw having reversed colors, never saw that before. IMHO it is a bit pricey at $8000 but is worth what someone is willing to pay. Who ever buys it will get a nice piece of history. Picture if my SOTD earlier this year
Beautiful razor Tim. No issue with dropping coin on collectibles, not at all. I agree that there is something "rotten in the state of Denmark" with this ebay sale.
I'm as big a believer as anyone in "Hey, it's your money" and something being worth whatever someone wants to pay for it...but there are aspects of this hobby/discipline that I will never, ever understand.
I agree. I read over his listing and some things popped out at me. First, I don't think english is his primary language, though he claims his family is from southern Mass. Also, his placement of the dollar sign after the number instead of in front indicates to me he's not from the US and many European countries. I think parts of Canada may place the currency symbot after, but I'm not sure. Point is, it's not an American convention.
This is off topic but I need advice, if shipping is taken care of would this be a good deal? Sent from my QTAQZ3 using Tapatalk
I wouldn't spend $100 for a bottom-dial FB or a Toggle if it was only for my personal use. I've already got a pile of vintage Gillettes (more than I need) in fantastic condition that shave great. And I don't buy stuff to resell. In fact, I really dislike doing that. But I've seen others spend 5 or even 6 figures on a wrist watch...and it's not because they want to know the time or even because they consider it to be a good investment. Whatever floats your boat, I guess, but I can't imagine anyone hitting the BIN button on this razor. @BaylorGator, pass the beans please.
There’s 30 minutes left till it ends. Nobody pulled the trigger yet. Let’s see if someone jumps in at the last minute.
Bidding stalled 2 days ago. I suspect this auction won’t hit the reserve. I wonder what the reserve is?
Me personally would not mind spending 50 bucks on it, but if it cost 8K it better come with 3 escorts prepaid for a monthly service
I wonder if having the adjusment knob lower affects the balance point, making the razor bottom heavy? It does look nice, though.
Pinto's were AWESOME ... though I had a Ford Escort. I think it was the same car, just changed the name.
