Jim, thanks for the kind words. You're right about accumulating and having enough storage space. Thankfully, I will have my own medicine cabinet, sink, and counter top in the new house, and it will be large enough to store most of the items I use routinely. I promised my Bride I'd keep things neat, since we share a bathroom. For the time being, I still have to keep stashes of soaps, creams, and blades in a couple of plastic containers.

Have a nice Friday, my friend, and please keep posting your beautiful SOTD photos!

Thanks Clint. Have a great day at work. It's hard to believe you've already been home a week. I've got some other friends on an Alaskan cruise now, and it will be fun to hear their stories when they return home.

You're going to have a nice setup. Congrats on the new home! We have a double vanity, her side and our side.
    Have fun at the track!

Off the ‘basics’ razor focus today I suppose. The MonoBilt has become the razor I judge all others by and it didn’t disappoint this morning. Not sure which blade is in it- either a Polsilver or Wizamet as I can’t tell the difference by blade markings sometimes. Regardless, an excellent shave this morning which has left me completely smooth and smelling mighty fine thanks to the Cool.
    Have a great day all!

"her side and our side"...I saw that, Jim. ;)

Her side and our side will look something like this in the new house (minus all the model home props). Additionally, each of us will have a built-in medicine cabinet.

Thank you, Charlie. It was a good decision to get it replated, I think.
By the way- what an exquisite 'Shave Den' you will have in the new abode. Congrats!

Thanks Jason. I appreciate the kind words, my friend. I helped with the bathroom layout, but I have absolutely no say in colors, counter tops, light fixtures, etc., and that's OK by me. However, I may ask our builder to substitute "Shave Den" for "Master Bathroom" on the plans to see what my Bride says. :D

The brush just keeps looking better and better, Jim. Some very fine detail work done on it by someone who clearly knows what they are doing.
 again... is it lunch time yet?
    Beautiful combo, Keith!
Stunning photo, Clint! Did the additional plates arrive yet?
Great pic, Jim. I don't recall you pulling the Timeless in a while. Enjoy!
A Bidet? In Kentucky, aren't those drinking fountains for toddlers?
Have fun at the track, Charlie. Sounds like a fine day. Maybe combine it with another distillery tour? :)

    June "Great Shave" Focus
    [IMG]
Having not posted in this thread yesterday, I will be especially verbose today. :p

Today's shave included two first-time usages: The TSN LE soap and a newly acquired Gillette New LC.
First the soap. I have had only 3 Jabonman soaps in my den, Vetiver de Haiti, Rose something or another, and this.
The Rose (which had NOTHING to do with Rose was so disgusting, that I couldn't get it out of my den fast enough. It smelled like human decomposition. I kid you not. Awful. The Vetiver de Haiti (which I still have some) is a straight-forward vetiver scent. Earthy, moist and basic. This LE, which by the way is over-priced at $38.00 +shipping for 125g, is touted to be vetiver, but with other scents, supposedly raising the complexity level. To my nose, it smells 99% just like my Vetiver de Haiti. Waste of money, if you ask me, in the sense that I was hoping for something different, not the same soap repackaged.
On the plus side, it is a good soap. Decent lather, good slickness and protection as well as above average pos-shave feel.

IF you don't already own a good vetiver soap and you don't mind spending over $46 (shipped), well, it wouldn't be the worst purchase you will ever have made.
    Now to the razor.
I expected a similar shave as I get with my SC and, I was correct. Very similar.
More aggressive than my Senator, less aggressive than my Milord Tech.

The differences between the long and short combs are beyond me and I would wager that the vast majority of shavers wouldn't be able to discern a difference. The copper/gold is very handsome. It weighs in at 50g. The SC weighs 51g.
    Here are some comparison photos:

    IMG_6307.JPG IMG_6306.JPG IMG_6310.JPG IMG_6308.JPG IMG_6309.JPG
You'll notice the obvious handle differences, as well as the profiles of the combs.
One thing that is similar and not noticed is the manner in which the handle screws onto the post.

It's wobbly until about halfway threaded. I would suggest taking care when threading as it seems that a cross-thread situation is not out of the question.
The Gillette Silver Blue came with the razor. Meh. OK, but I have better razor blades.
Finished with one of my first vintage juices, Vetiver de Guerlain.
I dont reach for it often as it is very potent and extremely earthy---in a good way.

Thank you Jason. I ordered the additional plates on June 7. If I am lucky, they will ship by the first week of July.

This is a very informative comparison, Joseph. I have both, but haven't done a good pictoral comparison as you have done here. I do find a slight difference in them, and am in the minority of opinion in that I do prefer the LC by a slight margin. I just find it a hair smoother, with no reduction in the quality of shave. My LC is a Canadian model, but I think it is exactly the same. Well, besides the fact that yours, again, looks absolutely mint. Mine is in fine shape, but not like that one!
Very good points about the threading, btw.

Thank you, Clint. I agree completely on the Monobilt. It is a really cool looking razor that benefitted from a trip to the beauty salon.
I look forward to your reviews on the more aggressive plates.

    Beautiful razor, Jim!
Glad to see you back, Charlie!
    Georgeous photo Jason!
    Congrats Charlie, Looks Amazing!
Very Nice photo and post Joseph! I fine the SC to be a tad more efficient then the LC, at least in the examples that I have. My two favorite Gillette razors right there!
