My "no more razors" is not working. I could not leave this one homeless in the wild. Found in a pawn shop. Look unused and guessing from the 70's, came in a plastic coffin.

Great deal, I am glad that razor is no longer homeless was what I meant to say. I did not mean to imply that you should die so I could acquire the razor cheap at your estate sale.

I've been away a while. Handful of health issues but trying to pay a little more attention to the forums.

Still restoring brushes when I get the time but not as much as I would like.

Thought I would post a few razors I've picked up recently.





First a T Hessen-Brurch Co blade that appears to be in very good shape ~6/8.

Next a big W&B wearing what appears to be matching hardware but the scales don't match. May keep is as is, either way I'm excited to pick up my first big W&B 7/8+.


Next an probably my most exciting find a Wosty IXL with a sweet set of scales, pretty much a full wedge and cannot wait to shave with this blade. I believe she's right at 7/8.

Last a smaller but decent shape Torrey blade thats just over 4/8.

Practice makes perfect.

It is also nerve wracking trying work on a blade thats well over a 100 years old. Even newer blades make me nervous.

Hoping to sit down with someone local and go through my stones and get a better understanding of what can go and what needs to stay.

Just put the word out, and find someone local.

Found one about 40 min away but we both seem to always be busy. I think there's one other but haven't been able to work it out.

Glad you’re felling better! As you know we don’t live far from each other, and in another post I joked that we probably hit some of the same antique stores. After seeing these pictures, I know we do. The blade in your 1st picture is a blade I recognize. I saw it a few weeks ago in a shop in your hometown. I got side tracked with some other straight razors in the shop, and forgot to pick it up for myself. It was priced stupid low! Oh well I’m glad it went to a good home.

Had to share this one... Wade & Butcher “The Celebrated Old Army Razor”
Looks to be correct horn scales and hardware. The shoulder-tang transition really caught my attention. 13/16” with some loving hone wear. From what research I was able to do, I think we are looking 1850’s-1860’s.
A fun and different W&B from the ones I normally see... which are all beautiful!
