Back to the Cape 1000! Shave 57 today after stropping 200 passes (doubling everything), 40 canvas/70 suede/130 cordovan. That perked the edge up, but it's still not quite as smooth as I'd like. But the shave results were fine, no irritation, smooth face, no stubble.... So I have a question, would you re-finish it or keep on going? The problem of course is when to end the test, when the edge doesn't feel 'fresh' or when the shave actually deteriorates - which it hasn't, at least not by normal standards. Soap was AoS tallow lathered with a TOBS brush. Thayer's Lavender witch hazel finished it off. After the shave, I stropped it 20/40/80. Cheers, Steve
I’ve been on the road for the past week and a half and thoroughly enjoying a nice Schick C3. It’s my travel razor but today was back to my straights. The Lund was calling to me and made short work of 2.5 days of stubble. I love this razor. The Blue Steel was an early acquistion from a Danville, Virginia antique store. At the time, I bought 3 shave ready straights for practically nothing. I bring it out every now and then.
Saturday Straight's Shave Proraso Pre Shave PSC Caffeinated Shave Cream Semogue SOC Gold Dollar 7/8 CWR Thayers Peach WH Florida Water I started off with Proraso Pre Shave. The PSC Caffeinated Shave Cream face-lathered well with the Semogue SOC brush. I did two passes with the Gold Dollar 7/8 straight and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayer's Peach WH and then Florida Water. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
Another great shave with my Winchester. Sometimes a great shave with a $10 razor makes me wonder why I bought the high dollar razors. (Please excuse the brief episode of sanity)
Today's shave was with a newly acquired, restored, and Honed razor. I had a very nice 2 pass shave, that left me Near BBS. Zero issues, and a solid performer. Razor- T.Hessen-Bruch & Co. Atkinson Bros. Bear In Mind travel razor Tiny little razor at 5/8” and less than 2” long, which in combination with no tail, made it a nice challenge. I would love to say I conquered it... but I think the razor won this time. Still fun! Enjoy your shave! Tom
