1. I love the way the bevel looks on old Sheffield blades such as yours. Nice shave!

This was a test of a stone that I got as part of a small lot, it's a hard blue-grey asagi, probably Okuda or Shobu but no way to tell. It's a good hone!

Razor was a trusty but still clunky Gold Dollar test razor, cream was Floris 89 lathered with a Keyhole 4. AS was Harris Pink.

    Cheers, Steve
  7. It always makes me smile when I see that razor, it does have an extra level of cool. I keep my eyes out for a chance to pick up a NOS Cape Kennedy 77 but other than yours I have never seen such a pristine example.

  10. Finally honed the W&B, and the 12k edge felt great.
Worked the Captain’s Choice North lather with a transplanted 24mm High Mountain White badger in a Rubberset 400, and finished it off with Razorock XX... velvet squeegee it was :).

  11. Today's shave was with a freshly acquired, restored, and honed razor. I had a 2 pass shave, that left me with a DFS. Zero issues. I tried a new soap, that face lathered easily. Just wet the face, rub the soap on it, and lather with the brush. The only problem, was the tingling from the soap, a minute after applying, this tells me the soap might be a little hot. The second lather and pass confirmed it. Plus, the soap was very feminine. The wife will get this, and see see how she likes it. Legs aren't as sensitive as faces.

Razor- Joseph Rodgers & Sons. "Monkey Tail Razor"
Brush- RazoRaock 400 with WD High Mountain Badger knot.
Soap- BathHouse Shave Soap. "Root" scented. It was very perfumy. My wife picked it up for me, in Hot Springs Arkansas.
    Aftershave- Florida Water.

  15. I’ve got to get me one of those vintage Boker razors! I have an old Boker pocket knife that I carry often, if there razors are anything like their knifes I know I will love it.
  16. Thanks Keith, I really appreciate the kind words. I had fun turning it into that Spanish pt and these are my favorite scales up to this point... got lucky with the color blending. :)

  17. Rarely go from mailbox to shave... but the seller did say shave ready and I am a trusting soul. :)
Wester Bros. Anchor Brand “Manganese” Steel 11/16” full hollow grind. My first factory blued tang and spine and it looks fresh.
Simpson Best Badger Duke 3 whipped up some Blades Grim Smolder and I agree, Shave Ready!

  18. I have a few of them, and every one of them shaves very good, and the edge lasts for many shaves. I’ve been very happy with all I’ve used.
  19. Gorgeous razor!
  20. Thanks. It was indeed NOS and bought from a Japanese seller on ebay. Mike/entropy1049, who used to post here, bought one around the same time. I haven't seen others.
