Welcome to the dark side. Que ominous orchestra. You have been given some great advice to start off with. If you do not have a paddle strop place your strop on a flat surface. It will help keep you from rolling the edge of the razor and also from nicking the strop. Your first strop will get nicks and cuts. And like Keith said make sure you shave when you can focus and have plenty of time. My first 30 shaves with a straight took about half an hour sometimes longer. Good luck
Another great shave lineup and photo Jim. Thank you for switching out the brushes and reducing my temptation.
Thanks, Clint. I was thinking of you when I picked out my brush this morning. Sent from my SM-T800 using Tapatalk
July 1, 2018 Rocnel SE-G Gem PTFE Thäter 4125/3 Nuàvia Blu The Thäter continues to impress with its face feel. Between the brush and the Blu face lathering was a pure joy. I went with a traditional 3 pass shave this morning. Touch ups along my jawline and neck ended in a BBS shave. The resulting shave was much smoother which I find with Gem PTFE blades after the first use. Overall a wonderful relaxing shave to start the day. I hope everyone has a great Sunday.
Beginning to think I made a mistake doing the Avon 4 Men Maxwell '23 Trtibute for aftershave today. It's nice, and I like it, but it's too "warm" for hot humid days I don't feel as bad as when I used Chiseled Face Midnight Stag or Clubman Original on hot days, but I won't use Tribute again until the humidity is much lower. At least I have a smooth face from the Stoylin soap but , had I used any other soap than Glacial Wintergreen(my only Glacial thus far), I'd need to find the closest "Ice-Bucket Challenge" event to cool off.
Nice photo, Clint. I like that blacked out razor. If you just looked you have more willpower than I do. Sent from my SM-T800 using Tapatalk
Thank you. I have more than enough brushes and would need to sell or pif one to get another. Thank you Jim.
Here are the razors I will be using in the Superspeed focus this month: A black handle SS Red Tip Blue Tip 48-50 Milord 48-50 SS Ranger Tech 48-50 Style Rocket Flare Tip Rocket
July 1 SOTD: Razor: Gillette Milord Blade: Rapira PL Brush: PAA The Green Ray Lather: Declaration Grooming Yuzu/Rose/Patchouli Aftershave: Chatillon Lux Yuzu/Rose/Patchouli Additional Care: Stirling Unscented PSB I had intended to use the Ranger Tech this morning, but my daughter wanted the "gold" razor they gave me a few years ago, so out came the Milord. A nice two pass shave. This scent is pretty nice, and I should get to see what SWMBO says a bit later. I hope everyone has a great day!
Day one and already three pages deep around here. Good job 30 DC! I'm working my way through settling the 400% population increase at Casa RyX. While the flexibility of youth is an advantage for the three grandchildren, my daughter is quickly stepping into a difficult time. Across the nation there's an opoid addiction problem. While I have no issues with folks using doctor prescribed meds in their recommended fashion, when tolerance means increasing dosages combined with recreational use, in conjunction with procurement from unlicensed street corner pharmacists, there in lies a problem. We are getting her into a 30 Day Program for assistance in withdrawal symptoms. The psychological addiction is her own internal mental battle. Lots of family around to lend a hand, but these situations require willpower on the patients behalf. Tough love, lots of babysitting, and time offer her all the best chances for improving the situation. Upside of having the young ones is their curiosity about the scents of my soaps and post shave products. Since my every other day shaves have slipped to time permitting I'm not committed to any particular Focus this month. I'll still be lurking, posting, and enjoying reading everyone else's daily adventures.
Course I could put about 30 chunk of ice in a bucket, fill er up, and go someplace to do it to myself!!!
