superbleu - the only brush I have used is a Penchetta from Tony at Penworks. It's a hand turned piece of burl wood with a silvertip extra stuffed knot.

I love it, but I don't have anything to compare it too.

+1 on the brushes being the last AD....I really like what I have and I'd rather focus on getting the right razor/blade combo(s)

yeah it is getting late here...that's what 3 mugs of coffee after dinner do to you...finally coming down though...

 

I didn't give my self a chance to settle on anything, and just got everything I could get my paws on. Now I have a truckload of creams, soaps, brushes, razors and blades to sort through, about the only thing I have figured out is AS splash and that's thayers lemon wh or speick

 

anytime you want to cash out is cool, I'm just killing time. and blabbing about nothing in particular

 

I'm just the opposite... I've only gotten 2 razors, a small blade sample pack, the 1 brush, a few creams and a few soaps.

Thanks to my secret santa, I got a few more soaps and blades, and a gift cert to spend here at the TSD store...

hopefully my not-so-secret santa will bring me some more things....

 

Wow, you done good. Sometimes I feel guilty, but at the same time I want to try everything under the sun to see if the next thing will perform better than what I just used.

Well, I've been forced to be good...just don't have a lot of disposable $$

Right now I'm using my Fatboy and trying out 3 different blades - Feather, 7 O'Clock Yellows and 7 O'Clock Greens. I've been using Tabac for about the last almost 2 months, with this past week going to Institute Karite...so far I think I like the Tabac better...

Thayer's alcohol free WH followed with TSD AS Milk (4711 type or Iced Lime)

It's actually been very successful....I think I like the Feathers the best...not quite sure yet

EDIT: and I'm totally with you on wanting to try everything under the sun.......I can't believe I was OK with the canned crap for so long - I think I'm rebounding hard in the other direction

 

Well, I have tried lot's of stuff, and you picked some of the best.
Tabac is best bang for the buck soap, equal to any 15-20 dollar puck of soap and better than alot of them. IK is good for the winter when I get dried out more.

If you ever want to try a good cream, Frasers is a phenomenal bargain. 12 or 13 dollars for a gallon of the stuff(well a lot)

Blades, I got some 7 oclock yellows for half the price of the feathers.

and fatboy adjustable is a good all around shaver, although for me after trying an open comb, Safety bars don't seem to cut the muster any more

If you want to try some frasers, PM me you addy and I can send you some samples of it, and some other creams/blades

 

how does the open comb differ? is it more aggressive? what did you have your fatboy set at? I was at a 5 using Crystals, but when I tried the Feathers I bumped back to a 3...

as far as the IK...I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but so far I like the Tabac much better. I'm sure I just haven't gotten the hang of it yet...

the open comb has more blade exposure so you get a closer shave, but at the same time, the combs thin the cream away from the path, doesn't scrape the whole mess away like a safety bar does.

The IK doesn't lather as well, isn't as cushioning, or slick, and it seems to not like hard water. But then again comparing to tabac, is tough for any soap

 

OK, that makes sense...so you get more protection from the lather then...

That's exactly what I've noticed, save the hard water - we have a water softener and whole house filter...

I can see how that can be...to me it is just that good..

 

if you like the scent of tabac, there really is no need to try another soap, invariably if people can stand the scent it will be in their collection because it works so well.

I heard that...I figured you'd be used to snow up there.
