I know there are vintage American made brushes but I prefer new Are there any completely made in America brushes out there?? I'm aware of many handle makers that use non domestic knots and I appreciate them but, again, looking for a COMPLETELY made in the USA brushes. Thanks in advance and enjoy those shaves.
Try 999 Shave on Etsy. They tie their own boar knots. BUT, I have no idea where they source their handles. I know they don’t turn them theirselves. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
Looks like they are actually Indian, but marketed by a company near St. Louis. https://www.999shavingbrushes.com/about
Declaration Brushes. Handles made in USA. Knots are hand tied in USA Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
So it's simple. Buy an American made handle sized for a 24mm knot and send it to the guy at declaration. Get the best of both worlds that way.
Is an all American brush even possible? Is any badger or boar actually sourced from the USA? Or is there a synthetic knot from a USA source?
Pretty sure all badger hair is sourced from China or other countries abroad. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That's what I believe too. And the badger species most commonly referred to (Meles meles, the European, or Eurasian Badger) is not native to China either. The Asian Badger (Memes leucurus) is similar to the European but has a paler coat and is a China native, as is the Hog Badger (Arctonyx collaris). It makes you wonder what we really get!
