Usually I am quite resistant to peer pressure, but not around here I guess. The worst stunt was trying to shave with a Sayuri. They are a Japanese semi-disposable simple pain stick and were a generous PIF from a few of the folks last July to the 30DC. Aweful. Ironically, the worst cuts I have gotten in wetshaving have been the first few times I used the CJB Pain Stick and not with these contraptions from the past few July's. The Feather Pro blades, especially on day one or two, are sharper than a DE blade.
I think my ADD kicked in...got a little out of sequence. Great post & photo again today, Joseph! Seems like you got somethin' figured out for the trusty R41. Given your response to the popsicle stick razors, I'm guessing you didn't pop in the thread during MAYhem? Popsicle razors seem tame compared to what was used that month.
The Holy Black has a Gunpowder Spice scent that is gunpowder and old spice. Its more spent shells from shooting than fireworks though.
I like Barbasol, too. The breakdown for me is-Summertime it's Barbasol&Gillette Foamy Menthol, and Rise on occasion. Wintertime-Rise&Barbasol. As for soaps, I do more soaps in the winter than summer, due to the way the scents stay on me more during the winter. But a good Stoylin Glacial Wintergreen is niiice in the summers. And I'll be getting the Lemony Orange soon(via a PIF),so that will be good too. Actually, I decided to change plans for tomorrow, as it will be humid again. You'll see in the SOTD. But I love Rise due to its strength in moisture. I find Rise to be stronger in that category than Barbasol. I guess I'm rambling, but that's the overall picture.
Must be one of the new ones(although it appears those guys just keep shellin'em out). No, the one I had in mind was another one...
Thanks Paul. That's a very helpful and well thought out summary that I can use as a reference. I appreciate it.
You could have called it a Wolfman, Mark. And no one would have known! Sent from my Galaxy using Tapatalk
They shave the same. The single ring gets more cool points. It is the same as the thin caps OLDs I think.
Good to know, thanks Fuzzy. I do find a difference between the thin capped and thicker capped OTs, fwiw. The Single Rings have the cool factor for sure.
Awesome photo Rick. This makes me want to revisit my Red Tip soon. Too many razors, too little time (and stubble) That you would Randy! The Rex is a looker for sure! Excellent photo, Jason! Congrats on pulling off another Cinco de Julio shave! Great shave Joseph, a new technique to try! Mmm , Gunpowder in the air. We are under a stage 2 fire ban, so no fireworks here. Great shave too Adam! Great looking setup, Bruce! Excellent shot Jim! I just picked up my first PAA soap but I think it's going to be more of a fall fragrance for me. I may give it a go just for fun. I have Fortitude, Vision, Honor and Courage. Of those I would have to choose Fortitude as my favorite at this point. It's one of the more subtle scents but the hay, rum and tobacco notes are a very nice mix. That will probably be the one I choose to replace the big tub of Courage when it starts to run out. Yeah, I know I can have two or more at once, but I'm trying to be a good boy.
