Well, if it helps any, one of the guys in the Excalibur Club over on the B+B forum got over 120 shaves on a vintage British Wilkinson blade. I rather suspect that most of those shaves weren't as crisp and smooth as they could have been with a fresh blade though. I went for 42 shaves myself on a vintage Pal carbon steel DE blade, using a vintage blade sharpener to refresh it every half dozen shaves, and the shaves gradually deteriorated after the first dozen.
7th July Great shave today. The whole face is BBS and only a tiny amount of feedback form the Alum block. Really happy with the results. The foam video showed earlier was also a big help as I realised that my foam was still too dry. Thanks guys really appreciate the feedback, tips and support! Looking forward to how the rest of the month will play out. I'm at a conference all day so you might not hear from me till tomorrow.
Great setup and report, Neal! Hopefully you'll get some time to relax over the weekend - whenever your weekend is these days...
Congrats, Simon!! That video is a great one. It puts things into perspective how much water (most) soaps can take.
Great looking shave Neal! Congrats on progress with the store and stay safe on the crazy streets! Sent from my Galaxy using Tapatalk
July 7th Razor: Rex Ambassador (1.5) Blade: Personna Lab Blue (3) Brush: SOC boar Pre shave: Stirling mentholated Soap: B&M Reserve Lavender Thayers Lavender AS: B&M Reserve Lavender Good morning men! The wife and I have a wedding to go to this afternoon. To me that means a suit and tie. Most occasions in my life jeans and a t-shirt suffice. It has been almost two years since I've worn a suit. My one suit was too big on me so I bought a new one. I bought a lavender shirt to wear with it. Yup, really, me in a lavender shirt. Never thought a lavender shirt would be my style, but then I never thought lavender scents would be for me either. So today's shave was lavender themed. Two pass with touch up left me clean, smooth and smelling good! Have a great weekend! Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
I couldn't get much of the Capt. Choice onto my face today-but apparently it was enough to do the job. Remember, it's just a few "scoops". I may try again, as there is a little more. It appeared to dissipate a little(as Williams has been known to do). Nice soap, though.
July 7, 2018 OneBlade Genesis V2 Feather FHS ATG “Rowl” Shavemac D01 Flat Top Figaro Sapone Speciale Myrsol Antesol After a couple of less than stellar shaves, I decided to simplify my life and put the SE-G aside. I commented on a post by @Primotenore concerning the Figaro Sapone Speciale soap. Very generously, Joseph reached out and sent me a sample of the soap. The fellowship and camaraderie of TSD never cease to amaze me. To my nose the Figaro had slight almond type scent but the overall impression was of a soap just smelling like soap which I found very pleasant. The soap was very easy to load and by adding water slowly, I had enough rich slick lather for a five pass shave. Thank you again Joseph for giving me the opportunity to try the soap. Now I might need to find a place to buy some. I went with a 3 pass shave, ATG, XTG and ATG followed my buffing on my lower right neck. The little guy was caught with ease. A first class close comfortable shave. A splash of Myrsol Antesol and I am ready for a relaxing day ahead. I hope everyone has a great Saturday.
Wow, Jim!! Absolutely amazing photo today! You really hit home runs with your SOTD photos, and this one has gotta be at the top. Head out in style and have fun today, sir!!
