I'm still hangin' in there with my daily shaves using the Fatboy set on 5. I've changing my Astra SP blades after three shaves, even though they could last longer. The Le Père Lucien shave soap has been a great all around performer. I'd definitely consider purchasing this soap again, depending on price. The heat wave broke, and we had some fantastic weather today. I hope you all did as well. I hope you all are having a great weekend!
It was a no shave day for me. Quite a bit of work to do around the house this morning, and then I had to change the oil and replace the gas tank vent filter on my wife's car. By the time I was done it was mod afternoon, so shaving didn't make too much sense. I hope everyone has had a great day.
July 2018 July 7 Razor - Qshave (6 - setting OMG) Blade - (1) Soap - Stirling Barbershop Brush - 30DC LE Synthetic Post - Alum Well, if you're gonna go aggressive (and I am), you gotta pull out a Futur or clone (and I did). It's the Qshave wide open on de-barking mode with a Ladas blade. A top 5 blade in my book it's the Super Stainless from Mostochlegmash to match up with Gillette's St. Petersburg made Nacet. Excellent blade. I broke out the Stirling Barbershop scented soap. One of my top three soaps from Stirling and the 30 DC brush, well, it is top tier as well. Fantastic lather and the big heavy and highly aggressive razor did an excellent job. I held the handle loose and toward the end letting the weight of the head do the work. No issues at all. Noisy, smooth, and two passes with just a bit of touch up brought the baby in the house. Alum was quiet. No sign of irritation. Love it. Every bit of it. Hope your weekend is going well! The heat has let off a bit here though it may come back a bit tomorrow. For now, it's mean streets time shortly. Have a great night and a better Sunday!
Having a second blade for something to reference against is a great idea. Let stropping be a Zen thing for you. Go as slowly with setting up each stroke, as it takes. The speed with which you roll the blade to work in the other direction is irrelevant. The actual speed of the stroke is what’s important. Listen for the perfect sound from each lap. You know when you hit it. Can you make it sound the same moving in both directions? It’s cool that you are enjoying this. It’s a skill set that’s disappearing.
I haven’t shaved since Wednesday. I have actually managed to get the boat on the water four times this week, and life feels a little more in balance. Fishing does that to a guy. The water was turning rough yesterday for my little boat, but once again, between my mad piloting skills, and my uncanny ability to coax fish onto my hook, we did not come home empty handed.
Thanks, Clint. The fishing was actually super slow. We kept a couple nice ones for the box though. These two are actually big enough fillets that they will drape a dinner plate. Fry them up crunchy? It is the reason I exist.
