I asked how you liked the Semogue on the SOS thread, but I read here that you find it stiff. Interesting, When I first used mine, I had to go check the box to see if they hadn't sent me a badger brush instead, so soft was it. I am still wondering if I actually got a mixed knot...
That's funny Joseph, I did the same thing after taking the brush out of the box and brushing it across my hand. The tips were softer than I expected. I was referring to the effort it takes to splay the brush. Sent from my SM-T800 using Tapatalk
July 2018 July 9 Razor - Qshave (6 - setting OMG) Blade - (3) Soap - Stirling Iced Coffee Brush - Jayaruh #46 Post - Alum What a great shave this was. Yeah, I'm gushing a bit, but all three now with the Qshave have been just about as perfect as shaves can get. Considering when I first tried this razor out it was a bit of a challenge, I have become a loyal advocate of its abilities. Ok, yeah, so I know it's technique that counts. But.....having a great tool in your hand to use it on helps. Is the Qshave as good as a Fatboy? Or a Slim? Or any other vintage razor? I won't say that, but I will say it has produced three baby's in a row and all with zero irritation or alum burn. And that's with it dialed all the way open. Again, technique rules - but a tool that functions exactly like it's supposed to is the other half of the puzzle. The soap - Stirling Iced Coffee - I'll go ahead and call it. My favorite Stirling scent. I haven't tried all of them, but so far this one wins. It's still not back on the website but I'm watching for it. And the JR46, well, we know Jayaruh brushes. I suppose I should mention the blade. Ladas is one of my top five choices in Russian steel and continues to impress. I don't use it as often as I should. It's one of those "wow I forgot how nice it is" blades. For the next rhree nights - I'll be switching to the Russian Consul. It would be the next most aggressive adjustable I have. And, I'll figure out a Russian blade for it to match. Should be fun.
I've been partway down the vintage pocketwatch rabbithole. Modern watches I have managed to duck so far - mostly...
July 10, 2018 OneBlade Genesis V2 Feather FHS BSB-2 C&E West Indian Lime Fine Italian Citrus A wonderful near perfect 2 pass shave to start the day. I do enjoy the C&E cream but I can safely say that it will not be on my buy again lists. A splash of Fine Italian Citrus and I am ready for another busy day. I hope everyone has a great Monday.

SOTD July 10, 2018 Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap Blade: Personna Razor: Schick B1 injector Brush: Satin Tip 'The Purest' synthetic Soap: Stirling Iced Pineapple Post: Witch hazel, Stirling Glacial Lemon Chill aftershave Easy shave this morning with the setup. The B1 is a great razor. Quite different than the later Schicks with the square handle and much more weight than the others. Really enjoyable to use. Nice results in the end. House update - We got a pretty good offer on our house late last night . It's been on the market for three weeks now. We countered earlier this morning and will see where it goes. Hard to concentrate on work stuff when something that big is going on in your personal life. Oh well - that's how it goes! Have a great day!
Now I'm really wishing I hadnt missed out on the Iced Coffee, I have a serious case of FOMO right now. Stunning photo, Clint. Was this one of the brushes that you said might be on the chopping block?? Love that PRC, Brian!
Congrats on the offer Perry! I hope your counter is accepted! Also you found your Satin Tip, I remember that Wilson lost it a while back. Great shave!
Yep, when de-cluttering and staging the house for showings, my wife found the Satin Tip in one of her shoes! Wilson must have stuffed it in there when he nabbed it! The folks countered our counter, but by only a little bit. It's a good deal overall. My wife is talking with our agent right now, but it looks like we'll take the deal!
SOTD July 10th ZY Stainless Arko Surrey w/ TGN 3 band synthetic (24mm, Frigate Class) Testing the edge I put on the ZY this morning. Very sharp and crisp, no hesitation with whisker removal and no tugging. I used this razor straight off the 1 micron film with nothing other then a good stropping. I did two passes today for a DFS and kept the blade under control enough to prevent any bloodshed. Have a great day my friends!
