Any chance you're joining us for Cinco de Julio?

  1. Of course. In fact, I save my popsicle sticks for just this occasion!

Delta Echo Ink black Gillette Fatboy on #4 / Gillette 7 O'clock Super Stainless (? )
    Simpsons CH2 Synthetic brush
    Fendrihan Lavender Sandalwood soap sample
Alum and TSD Milk Aftershave Sandalwood

I switched to the Fatboy today and enjoyed a great shave. I used the Soap Destroyer to make a supergoop lather in the bowl holding the soap sample, then face painted the creamy lather. After that, it was two passes to a DFS.

Shaveys are all in the mail. The cartel should receive their package for distribution tomorrow. Everyone else should be seeing their shavey awards next week.

    Thank you, gents!
At least I only picked up one tuck of the Voskhod, and didn’t take a leap of faith and order 100 - like I did with the GSBs.

Fantastic shaves and recaps, Adam. Agree with you on the coolness of that 2nd pic.
Where would you rank that Floating Head?

Its like a Gillette Adjustable on setting 8 or Neal, but without the blade chatter. The only DE I have with more blade feel is my DEvette, where I cut the safety bars off a DE, but the Floating head holds the blade very stable, so it doesn't bounce or chatter. It will punish inattention or pimples before you even realize it, and I set it down the same way I do straights: Slowly and carefully, then rotating it to get the angle I want. Need to get mine re-plated.

Thanks. For comparison sake, since I'm pretty sure you have one, how is the blade feel compared to a Monobilt? I ask as I've considered the floating head one of the vintages I'd like to find.
PS- just ordered the Blood on Steel SS and AS. Thanks for organizing it!

I get to use my new Blood on Steel soap Friday night. The Floating Head has more blade feel than the Cooper Monobuilt. Both would be efficient razors, but I think the Floating Head is a little more bitey, if you aren't paying attention. If you have moles or other skin irregularities, the either razor and a light touch will glide over them, but if you add any pressure, they will just cut them off. The Floating Head is also heavier, which I think makes it easier to use.

This new consulting contract is going to be the death of me. Another extremely early morning shave and departure with a early evening post. The Mike's soap smells freaking fantastic and works even better. With the Feather FHS blades I can easily go ATG for the first pass with the second pass XTG. By touching up the along my jawline and buffing my lower right neck, I ended up with an effortless near perfect shave. Really this is the perfect setup for me on days like today. I hope everyone had a great day.
