Pics and notes from the Meetup breakfast.
Well, you've seen a bit of what we got up to and heard a bit. Here's the "official" report so far. After last night's informal gathering of a few of us we kicked it off with breakfast at Golden Corral.
@Bama Samurai ,
@wristwatchb ,
@mrchick ,
@Drygulch ,
@Paul76 , and
@Keithmax and myself all showed up along with Charlie's lovely better half Kathy and my lovely better half Jennifer. We basically took over a pretty good sized corner of one of the dining areas and just had a great time. Following breakfast the Shavey Awards were presented to the group and the box of freebies was passed around from
@BaylorGator . Not only did some of those items disappear but a few new ones ended up in the box as some horse trading occcured, so I have plenty of PIF material for the future from that.
All of the attendees received their Cartel approved blade selection (A tuck each of Voskhod, Rapira PL, Rapira Swede, Rapira Chrome, Ladas, Sharp Star, and Sputnik) as well as the cookies. So dies the great cookie rebellion. For now, at least. (You can't trust those dissidents. They pop up when you least expect them.)
Adam revealed his collection of straight razors and lots of discussion followed, and the Meetup LE soap and AS set was passed around, bought, sniffed, sniffed again, and sniffed some more. At this point I'm sure some of the other customers were a bit confused at our love of sniffing plastic tubs.
Adam also produced a surprise by handing me a really good looking gold Gillette Toggle to admire, then allowed me to hang onto it to play with for awhile. I never turn down a chance to play with a toy like that. Other trades and gifts were made around and discussion and just plain fun and good times ensued until a little after noon. Good grief but we talk as much in person as we do online! I also added to my stash of stuff with some free Wheat State Soap and AS from Adam and some TSD Bay Rum aftershave from Paul. Thanks guys!
As we took off for the afternoon break to allow Keith and Chris some beauty sleep I think we would all agree this was great fun! Good times were had, soaps and other products bought and traded, and we're looking forward to the BBQ tonight. We should add another one or two members tonight at dinner and all I can say is, Let the good times roll! A few pics to commemorate the event. Sorry about the quality on some but the morning STL sun was a bit bright and already heating it into the 90s!
