Well, an update about our house hunt. Short story is that the contract on our house fell through today. The inspection was done on Tuesday and the buyers asked for 17 areas to be fixed by us (including a new HVAC system for the second floor and a new deck....a deck that they wanted to have oversight on the design of) PLUS they lowered their offered price by $25,000. Didn't think you could do that. We said no. Then they came back and said they'd change the requests to six areas that we needed to fix and lowered their asking price by $15,000 instead of $25,000. We said no, again. Really bad juju at this point. The buyers seemed to be novices and their realtor didn't seem to be helping them navigate. We wonder if they just wanted out? Or was their agent clueless as well? Regardless, we mutually agreed to part ways. So we'll stay in our current house until sometime this Spring and try to sell again. We weren't in a bind and didn't HAVE to sell right now. We were looking for somewhere a little closer to my work and with some different features to help with having a toddler, but it didn't work out this time, so we turn the page. Who knows? Might be a blessing in disguise. Things have a funny way of working out the way they're supposed to.

July 19th Gillette NEW SC w Wizamet Semogue Boar Yahk Soap Co Creamy Coconut Thayers CL Bon Vivant Breaking in this brush, which was part of my Shavey award, generously provided by @BaylorGator. Not my best today. The lather was too airy, and the blade was tuggy. Still got two days worth mowed down in three passes, but it just wasn’t up to my usual expectations. Finishing with CL always helps. The soap is my fault, but the blade might be the rare dud. Wizamets are usually top performers, but this one didn’t even feel that sharp after I took it out of the razor to check it out. I had a bum Chick Injector cartridge a few years ago, but never a bad DE blade. Oh well, I get to do it again in a day or two. Have a great evening all!
You're right -- you "can't" do that, or at least you shouldn't. The post-sale inspection is intended merely to ascertain that everything promised in the sale contract is really there -- like the included washer and dryer haven't been removed -- and as a last chance to catch any previously-hidden defects. (Such as, now that the furniture in the basement that was placed to hide it has been removed, a crack can now been seen in the wall where water floods in whenever it rains.) The fact that the house does not have HVAC on the 2nd floor - and was never specified to have it - and doesn’t have a deck either - a fact that was obvious during the viewing -- are NOT hidden defects warranting renegotiation of the contract to compensate for such defects. Instead they are features desired by the buyers that are lacking in the house they are purchasing. They should either do renovations after purchase to install them or else buy a house that has them in the first place. Under no circumstances do they demand that the sellers do custom renovations at the sellers' expense to provide them -- at least not after the sale has been finalised and under the guise of correcting "hidden defects". Sounds like really bad news buyers -- the kind who will try to sue you three years after the sale on the grounds that the furnace or the washer and dryer have just packed it in and you said they were working when you sold the house and that really means you gave them a lifetime warranty... (And yes, there are buyers like that, too, who try to come back on the sellers even years later for "defects" that are really post-sale normal wear and tear.). It's disappointing to have a sale fall through, but frankly, you're well out of that one.
Personally, I’d put that one on a calendar. Awesome! Great looking shave, Perry! Sorry about the house deal falling thru, but sometimes things happen for a reason. John is bang on. Something like this actually happened to me a dozen years ago. I sold a house and the buyer contacted me 6months after the sale to complain that the kitchen sink now leaked and there was some water damage underneath. Wanted me to pay for the plumbing bill. Ah, nope. That being said, I think it may be for the best to not deal with buyers like that, and I suspect you are right, they want to get out of it.
Thursday July 19 - because it's there Schick E2 / Personna ( 4 ) Semogue Owners Club cherrywood Tuxedo brush Arko stick Alum and Jeeves Barbershop splash I picked most of today's shave components on the basis that they were sitting there handy and hadn't been used in awhile. The result was a good shave. The synthetic whipped the Arko rubbed on my face into a fine lather. The Schick E2 brought me a DFS in two easy passes. The alum was just slightly warm in a couple spots on my chin. The Jeeves splash has a mild amount of menthol in it and smells of slightly exotic spices -- a nice finish.
