Sunday Shave: I guess the Vampire blade was sleeping, it did not draw any blood but I did have a tickle from the alum. Today's high.... 97! Yikes, it felt cooler in LV. Irritation A Closeness A+ Smoothness A+ Sharpness A+ Razor: Robert Williams Vampire Blade Strop: Mastro Livi Brush: Romera Pre: Proraso Soap: Stirling AS: Alcolado Glacial AS, Edwin Jagger ASB Scent: Dior Cologne Royal
I find the same thing with some Deluxe's and Regiment's...many are sold out, but thanks to my PIF from @SHAVEWIZARD420 , I'll have enough experience with the ones he gave me so that hopefully more deliveries of each would be made later.
July Focus Loading a soap which is smooshed into a bowl, in this case, an Aesop SS bowl, is like making popcorn with the lid off the pot. Voluminous soap creation. It was epic, not wasteful, as I use it all---even what remains in the brush. However, I didn't pour off the bloom water and use it as a pre-shave as I usually do, so.... the Williams was a bit fluffier than I prefer. Still great, but I get better results when I add water as needed. The M&F brush is one of my favorites; (Moot, because, except for the Super-scritchy, floppiest of floppy, pure badger brush, which my son gave me years ago, I don't keep brushes that I don't absolutely love. Indeed I have been known to sell brushes that I absolutely love and have regretted those sales ever since...but that's a different thread topic) Phew, that was a long parenthetical phrase. I do like Beehive handles quite a lot. Never used to, but they have become my favorite handles. The 2011 Mühle R41 and I are best friends. We have a very close (pun intended) relationship now, that no other razor will put asunder. I intend on playing the field again soon and my R41 is ok with that...as long as I come home once in a while to it. (2018 gender neutrality) The Personna II Double blade anomaly once again was flawless in its executional duties. No Alum (broken or otherwise) needed. 3+ and BBS Thayer's and the soon to be emptied Floïd finished off a wonderful shave.
July 22, 2018 Karve D Plate Feather Thäter Boar Nuàvia Blu A very nice shave this morning. The Thäter Boar really works well with the Nuàvia Blu. The resulting lather is rich and slick with a scent that feels the room. I went with a 2 pass shave this morning, ATG followed by XTG with minimal touch ups. I ended with a very good smooth shave but missed a spot on my lower right neck. We have guests coming over for Indian snacks this afternoon. The girls have requested Pani Puri and Behl Puri before they leave for school. So along with other goodies purchased from the local Indian Grocery, we should have quite the spread this afternoon. I hope everyone has a great Sunday.
Thanks for the update, Adam! Great post and report, Joseph! Nice photo, Clint! Your day of snacks sounds delicious! My wife and I love Indian food and we take Wilson to our favorite place about once a month. All the servers know him by now.
July 22 SOTD: Razor: Gillette 40s Style Rocket Blade: Polsilver Brush: PAA Atomic Rocket Lather: Crown King Pareidolia Aftershave: Crown King Pareidolia Additional Care: Stirling Unscented PSB A nice smooth shave with the SS cousin from across the pond. Two passes for a DFS. The mechanism on the Rockets always feels a little smoother than the SS. The blade feel on this razor is similar to the Ranger Tech. I hope everyone has a great day!
With the high humidity back this week, it's time to focus on the cold/chill stuff. Well, so far as "chill" is concerned, the Stoylin Glacial Wintergreen should see a couple days of use. Other than that, the week expects to feature Gillette Foamy Menthol, Stoylin Sandpiper A.S. w/Menthol, Gillette Series Cool Wave A.S., and maybe the Razorock Acqua Soap(which isn't as cold as Wintergreen or Foamy, but works we'll enough with Aqua Velva to give me some protection from the humidity).
July 22nd Razor: Blackbird SB Blade: Rapira Platinum Lux (2) Brush: Yaqi High Mountain Silvertip Pre shave: Stirling mentholated Soap: CK Atomic Age Bay Rum Lucky Tiger face tonic AS: CK Atomic Age Bay Rum I've had a run of excellent shaves! Great shave from the Blackbird this morning. This razor has a lot of blade feel. My first touch on my face reminded me of why I chose it for MAYhem. Patient two pass with touch up left me with a near BBS irritation free shave. Have a great Sunday! Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
It’s good to be back home. My wife is out of town, which gave me the bathroom by myself before church. Time to grab some favorites and enjoy a leisurely shave. I forgot how good this blade is.
