A rumor went around the interwebs that Mattress Firm was really just a money-laundering scam for certain nefarious groups. If that was true I'd be really upset that my pay clearly doesn't indicate that level of profit.
We are having record heat so I am working on this tub of SMN, I need the menthol. I used to love mentholated soaps but with straights I need to feel the blade on my skin. A new to me razor, Atlas (Jwest) with a near wedge grind and fresh off the stones..... it needs to go back to the stones as it was tugging and rough. Fortunately I had a stroped and ready Niles 17, a half hollow Jwest ready to go. Irritation A Closeness A Smoothness A+ Sharpness A Razor: Atlas near wedge , Niles 17 half hollow Strop: Herold Russian Brush: Paladin Pre: Proraso Soap: SMN AS: Alcolado Glacial AS, Edwin Jagger ASB Scent: Creed Millesime Imperial
Working in accounts receivable ain't easy, but, sometimes, it sure is fun. File under: How you know you should transfer to "the other division" of your company, as soon as the opportunity presents itself.
Apparently when they offered me that transfer to "collections" out of sales I should have thought about it harder.
Vexing problem. That's why the lenient regulatory environment surrounding cartels is so attractive for those seeking a quick alternative to the inevitable "debt restructuring" that can follow a default. Cartels are uniquely positioned within the market and regulatory framework to offer creative financing options, all with the "health and well-being" of all interested parties taking priority in emergent times. And when the time comes to close the deals, the marketing pitch stays urgent, focused and persuasive. And above all, the terms are so amazing that people rarely decline to seek other options. (this is not life advice)

July 24 SOTD: Razor: Gillette 40s Style Rocket Blade: Polsilver Brush: PAA Atomic Rocket Lather: PdP Aftershave: PAA Boomtown Bay Rum Additional Care: Stirling Unscented PSB It was a busy day yesterday, so I fell behind on the thread. Lots of great pictures and shaves from the looks of things, but I honestly skimmed through most of yesterday's posts. Today's shave was one of those where I meant to be in a hurry, but it was just such a nice shave, I went slowly. I came to the realization that PdP is an under-appreciated soap. You can get it from Amazon for $12 or so, it is a 5.25 oz puck, and it is triple milled. The performance is terrific, IMO, and it should last just shy of forever, at least in my current stash. The scent is clean and soapy, so not much to complain about there, but not too much to rave about either. It definitely represents a great value. It set up a great shave with the Rocket that left me just shy of BBS. I finished with some of the new Boomtown Bay Rum. While I don't like the scent quite as much as the Atomic Age Bay Rum, it is a top Bay Rum scent. Very nice. All in all, it was very relaxing shave before I start another busy day at work. I hope everyone has a great day!
July Focus We're approaching the finish line rapidly, both the month of July and my focus products. I will probably get a couple more shaves from the Williams. What was new today, was my first-ever use of the Super-Max Platinum blade. Made in India, they're double-wrapped (I like that there's no glue dots), and warn not to wipe the blade after use, but rinse and shake dry. (OK, I followed that advice) My opinion of the blade is that it tugs from the get go. However, when I lightened my touch even more, I was able to get some significant and effective buffing. I was hesitant about my lower neck, as this is absolutely the most sensitive part of my shave area, but I made sure to keep the skin protected with lather and not lose the shallow angle. Success---without irritation. The Paladin PK-47 has a particularly dense fan knot, which is reminiscent of my DG5. It is also extremely soft, with copious backbone. (Does that adjective even work?) The handle has better than average ergonomics, but still not my ideal. Honestly, I have not yet found the perfect handle. The closest I came was a CH3 Manchurian, which I sold. A CH2-size knot on a CH3-size handle would be interesting. The Floïd took its final curtain call this morning, and with the news that it is discontinued, we have reached the end of an era.
You've definitely upped the ante on shave reports! Great write up; that empty bottle almost looks sad.
Nice shave, Neal! Very nice, Clint! Does the Karve have any hopes of unseating your Wolfman for top DE honors ? Another great photo, Jim! Congrats on finishing off the Floid, Joseph! What knot code does your Paladin have in it ?
SOTD July 24th Gold Dollar Vintage 2016 JR #134 Stirling Electric Sheep A straight shave this morning, just because. Still need lots of practice to get more comfortable with the straight. Had a bad set down on my upper lip that resulted in blood but otherwise an irritation free shave. I did two passes for a surprisingly good DFS. I really like the scent of Electric Sheep, its sort of like Arko without the industrial feel. The lather quality of mutton formula was great and so was the post shave feel with no post shave products. Have a great day my friends!
