Anytime I see a post like that, I know someone is now part of the dark side. Welcome, brother.

Here's a serious question for the SR vets. On the right side of my neck the hair grows from south to north. So in order to shave that side WTG I have to invert the razor which leads to some rather awkward strokes. And it doesn't seem to matter if the scales are pointing up or down they seem to always be in the way, and if I have them pointing straight out I don't feel like I have enough control over the blade. Any tips for holding the razor for the S to N pass ?

That's one of the better soap bases that I've tried with open blades. Hang in there! I did the bad "placement" and drew blood many times.

Hold the scales internally to the palm, as if it were a fixed kamisori.

I do the S/N pass on the right side of my neck with the left hand, with the scales all the way open. It's nerve racking the first few times, but if you don't have any muscle memory to get in the way, you can build it quickly. Focus on the sound the razor makes when cutting, and try to keep angle right based on the sound, because you might not be able to see too well.

When you say all the way open you mean inline with the blade? Like Chris @Bama Samurai suggested ?

    That is what I do.

I got a woody in the mail yesterday.

In June, @Jayaruh made a wooden SE Open Comb razor. The thread is here: https://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/jayaruh-wooden-se-razor.59773/ He graciously volunteered to do a pass around for some of the idiots who were willing to try it. It was finally my turn!

It showed up with a couple of blade options, including Treet Carbon blades. My experience with SE razors is pretty limited. My face did not agree with the blades that were locally available, so I have a grand total of three attempted (but not completed) shaves with a Gem style SE. I loaded up a Treet, and proceeded to bludgeon my soused soap into submission with the big boar. This is my next Titanic soap, which I will be using every other shave until it is gone. The Shave Den Purple Rain, which Joanna released after Prince passed away. Got a great lather, and started my first pass, N/S. Blade was incredibly smooth. This razor weighs nothing, so the firm stroke without pressure had to be kept in mind. Used alum on the finger tips to stretch the skin well. Re-lathered for my second pass, S/N. No issues, no blood, and a good result already. My third pass is sideways, out from my mouth. A little bit of touch up on the chin strap, and the baby is in the house. Very impressed with the razor. I will shave again with it on Thurs, then send it on to @PLAla for his turn.

Thank you Jim. I will post my thoughts on the new Karve plates when they arrive.

    Thank you Jim.

Thank you Jim. The workmanship on the Wolfman razors is truly amazing and makes up a large part of the joy of using them. Timeless comes in the finish work but still second. The Wolfman is like a working piece of art if that makes sense. The Karve thread on the handle feel just like the Wolfman when the razor is assembled. The build quality like the Timeless is just as nice. The shave of the D plate matches my Wolfman 0.74mm OC and surpass my regular Wolfman OC in terms of efficiency. All are equally smooth. I anticipate either the E or F plate unseating the Wolfman as my most efficient smooth DE razor. If I were in the market for a Wolfman today, I would look to Timeless for the SS and Karve for the brass.

Wonderful photo and report Jim. The wife and girls gave me PdP soap and balm for Christmas. I agree the performance is great with a pleasant light scent. For value it is really hard to beat.

Would the Woody razor work with a DE blade?
