Thursday shave Woke up a little late so no pic and decide to load my King Cobra for a quick shave. I used the Kai blade during vacation and again today, I am certain now I prefer the Feather Pro blade. I also prefer my Cobra Classic to the King Cobra. Nice shave and I am out the door. July 25th Razor: Timeless .95 SC Blade: Rapira Super Stainless(2) Brush: Yaqi High Mountain Silvertip Pre shave: Stirling mentholated Soap: B&M LGC Thayers Lavender AS: B&M LGC First attempt shaving with my left hand. Wow, did that start off awkward! All these years of shaving, brushing my teeth and combing my hair in front of the mirror with my right hand, every movement comes natural. Not so with my left hand. It took some time for my brain to connect with my left hand through a reflection. I ended up with a nice near BBS shave. It's going to take some practice for it to feel natural. Have a great night, gentlemen! Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
Amazing photo Jim! I feel the same way about using my left hand, now imagine trying it with a straight razor! Sent from my Galaxy using Tapatalk
Thanks, Andrew! I thought about you guys and your straight razors well I was struggling and thinking what a blood bath I would have. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
July 2018 July 25 - Shaving like the Fuzzter! Razor - Kampfe Star LC Blade - (1) Soap - Stirling Barbershop Brush - Jayaruh #46 Post - Alum, Stirling Barbershop Splash (Shavey Award) Onward and forward to another run with the Kampfe Star. This razor just looks amazing, and my favorite part is how the blade looks when loaded. It's like it's just laying there on top ready to start cutting. Almost scary. I loaded a fresh Treet Super for the razor, grabbed Stirling Barbershop and the JR46 and loaded and lathered. The Star is a bit trickier to get the angle on than the Gem Jr., but once you get it the noise and feel is very similar. In fact, on the second pass I had a bit of trouble getting started until I got the sound right. Once it's going, though, it's a Lather Catcher. Effective and fun to use, they're definitely on my list to continue to learn about and yeah, I'm sure I see some in my future. Haven't found the one I'm looking for yet on Ebay, but I'm sure one will show up. Two passes and touch up, though not the slide tonight. Near-BBS and I'm a happy camper. I'm off the next two days so a visit to the doctor, I think we're going to cook ribs on Friday out at a State Park, and many drunks will find their way home in my backseat. Have a great night!
July 24th Gillette NEW SC w Polsilver Stirling Finest / Maple Stirling Bay Rum SS Thayers CL Bon Vivant AS July 25th NEW SC w Polsilver WD HM Badger /Cypress B&M Latha Sandalwood SS Thayers Barrister’s Reserve Cool AS Have been trying to follow along the past few days, but didn’t take the time to post photos. Changed a lousy blade and have enjoyed two nice shaves with the excellent NEW the past few mornings. Still trying to finish off the Stirling Bay Rum, but it has several days left on it. Hadn’t pulled the Latha in quite a while. It came from @BaylorGator a long time ago. Initially, I didn’t jive with the scent, which is much more Currant than Sandalwood to my nose. Really enjoyed the scent this morning, however, as I suppose it is more of a summer scent with the fruit. I always get good results from B&M soaps and today was no different. Finishing with the Cool is always a good idea as well. Have a great day tomorrow, all!
I do not have time to catch up but a quick answer here. To me the Dammy is oneof the mildest of the 1912s. Would not surprise me if the Jr. Had more blade feel to you.
Keep trying and in 2 weeks it will natural. I couldn’t imagine shaving with a straight and not using both hands.
Beautiful photo, Clint! It appears that the Karve is starting to darken a little bit with use. IIRC, you're going to let it patina naturally? Any word on the other plates yet?
Great photo and report, Neal! Enjoy your days off, even though it still sounds busy..and good luck with the Dr. appt.
