I love the blade tray on the Star! That is a fine looking couple of shaves, Jason! Cant go wrong with the New! Awesome photo Jim! I put a generous splash of SfH on last weekend and got a compliment from my wife, have you gotten any reaction? What do you think of the scent ?
Thanks for clarifying, Rick! I thought it would be OK, but didn't want to do it, just in case - even though I normally live by the motto "It's better to ask forgiveness than permission". What can one possibly discuss with electric razors? You plug them in, or charge them. You use them. They suck. End of conversation. Hope everything is going well with you and the family! Here is the link...he compares the differences in three different Gem style razors. Personally, I think it's a good write-up, particularly for someone like myself who isn't all that versed in Gem razors. http://shavenook.com/showthread.php?tid=2002
I found a "Focus Match" for a Soap&A.S. combo: My PIFed Deluxe British Racing Green soap with the Avon 4 Men Maxwell '23 Tribute A.S. I've always had the Avon standing on my sink(as I don't want to risk tipping it over and possibly losing some A.S. ). Now it stands atop the Deluxe. I probably won't use em until fall.
July 26, 2018 Razor: English FB Tech Blade: 7 o'Clock Permasharp Stainless (3) Brush: Semogue 620 Soap: Der Vergulde Hand Post: Alum, Listerine, WH No shave yesterday and today was a repeat of Tuesday's with the FB Tech and Indian Green blade. Great as always.
I think I’m now out of Craftsman razors to use this week Mitchell’s Wool Fat Soap Elk Antler Badger Brush Craftsman Razor Lucky Tiger Ogallala Bay Rum After Shave Have a great day!
I want to say that I have enjoyed keeping up with the thread this month. I don’t often respond to individual pictures, but I am constantly amazed and inspired by the photos on this thread. Its good stuff and I am glad to hang out here. Last shave with the Woody before I send it to the next stop. Jim, @Jayaruh , I am glad I got the chance to try this razor. It’s well made and works well. I palm stropped the Treet Special Carbon blade before clipping it into the razor. Software today was first use of Jeeves of Hudson Street Black Tea set I picked up on the way back from the meet up. (I am up to eight varietes of Jeeves soaps, so I may be more of a fan of them than I thought. I do find his soap base to be very easy to use, with a good post shave feel. I’ve also found that his scents seem to be ones I get along with.) I would not have bought this soap without smelling it first. It opens with a clean smell, with just a bit of the sharpness you get when you overbrew a cup of black tea. The overall scent is very light, and very different. The scent description includes black tea, tobacco, citrus, jasmine, amber, white cedarwood, and musk. Aftershave has good staying power, three hours later I am still getting whiffs of it. Razor held the blade well, and my normal three pass shave was followed by some touchup and buffing on my jawline and neck. No blood, and a high grade DFS shave. My only gripe on this razor is a minor one, that technique can overcome. Because it’s so light, it did require some pressure in my trouble spots to get the whiskers.
I hear you. I polished enough brass during my time in the Army. No way I'm going to do it now. I would send it to Delta Echo before I polished the razor.
July 26, 2018 Karve D Plate Feather Thater Boar Fine Italian Citrus Soap & Aftershave Another very early morning this morning in order to get ahead of the commute. Luckily, I am back in my office the remainder of the afternoon. The shave was a quick 2 pass near perfect drama free shave. Just the kind of shaves I prefer. @Drygulch mark the Fine Italian Citrus as done and dusted. I had to add a little of the AOS Ocean Kelp cream to get an adequate lather this morning. I hope everyone has a fantastic Thursday.
Hmmm...didn't cross my mind, nor am I planning on it - but, a Delta Echo Karve...that would be sweet!
Thank you guys. I have been working on both the C&E Cream and the Fine for sometime now. I am happy they are both done and dusted.
At about the same price point as the Astra SP which do you prefer John? I think I like the Permasharp better. Awesome shot Brian! Are you sure you dont have one or two more that you forgot about? Fun shave, Adam! Excellent shot Clint! Another one falls to the Soap Assassin!
Thank you Andrew. I am guessing somewhere close to 3 or 4 more soaps will reach their demise before year end.
