Good job with the left hand, Jim. I have never used my left with a DE, and it is probably the main reason it took me so long to feel comfortable with a CJB Kami using my left. Well, that and the gouges I gave myself the first shaves with it... Awesome photo, in your signature style. The LGC is just about the only regular production B&M I haven’t tried. Those really are some of the coolest looking razors ever. Barbershop is one of SWMBO’s faves. I find it quite powdery, but she really enjoys it. Therefore, I use it Awesome combo, Jim! Good luck in those meetings. I love the performance of the Jeeves products I have as well, Adam. I’m just ok on a few of the scents. Love tobacco and Bay (Velvet Jacket), like Key Lime (thanks again)and sort of like Apothecary. The scent is very light, but pleasant. My Blood on Steel combo is waiting down at the shipping outlet near the border whenever I find the time to go get it... That Thater looks fully broken it, Clint. One question I’ve been meaning to ask you- Do you keep your Fine Soaps in those boxes, or just keep them for photos?
Thank you, Jason. Shaving with my left hand is going to take some practice. Weird sensation having my hand doing the opposite of what I thought I was telling it to do. I really like LGC. If you like floral scents I would recommend it. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
I know I've been the one asking the questions plenty, so I definitely don't mind helping out. I am a big believer in passing on what little information I have. It does make for busier times every now and then.
Oh, and V does still equal IR. You should have been then when I tried to explain 3 phase power to my wife and her coworker our first year of work. She is a Chemical Engineer as well.
My wife hasn't really smelled it yet. She was out of town the first time I tried it, and she wasn't up when I left the house this morning. I think she will like it, but you never know. Thank you for the kind words!
I think I prefer the 7 o'Clock Permasharp more, as well. I will say, though, that they are a blade which is almost too sharp for certain razors.
When I bought the Fine Soaps they didn’t offer containers so I kept the boxes for photos. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
A couple of new items in the HQ den that will appear in the not too distant future. First, a really beautiful Gem Micromatic Clog Pruf that I found on Ebay. This thing is a real beauty. Near-mint condition. Shiny! The seller also sent two Gem Stainless blades for it. That's ok, I have carbons in the house so I'm good to go. Chances are you'll see this razor come out to play in SEptember. Also, a NOS tuck of Personna 74 DE blades. Considered by most to be perhaps the best DE blade ever made, certainly, in the US, I've been wanting to give these a try. An anonymous gifter sent them to me (thank you anonymous gifter - yes, I know your name but by your request nobody else will ever know). I expect these will come into play in Adjustable August. I'm putting some blades on trial for the month and these will be in the mix.
Thank you Andrew. I’m embarrassed to tell you I’m not sure. I’ve found the three Craftsman razors I used this week, but haven’t unpacked everything yet. It’s been like Christmas. I just thought I’d leave this pic for you as well. I love this kid!
Yes I will, plus going for distance if you will. I've read of these blades outlasting others by a long time so I'll be seeing how long I can get one to work as well as my usual rating and trial.
UPCOMING THEMES FOR 2018 We are nearly done with July. Hard to believe and it has been a momentous month both in shaves, reports, pics and all the stuff that goes on around here, and in the success of the TSD 30DC First Annual Meetup! It's definitely been a highlight month for me. With that in mind, we have reached the time in the year when the rest of our months line up nicely for our normal run of themes for each month. Here's a heads up of what we will be doing theme-wise for the remainder of 2018. August - Adjustable August. We can also go Adustable (Arko) August for those who want to spend a month bathed in the glory and lemony goodness of that Turkish classic while showing off their adjustable collection. Or their collection of the world's most adjustable razor, with 360 degrees of settings, the straight. SEptember - Single Edge September. Time to get out those SE razors and give @wchnu a month of razor porn! And to remind us of how great these razors work! Yep, straights also count as a single edge, as do pain sticks. I might also offer that we could throw a month of Stirling soaps in as well. So, in keeping with our totally non-conformist ways - Single Edge (Stirling) SEptember. OCtober - Get those Open Comb razors out and let's have some old fashioned and aggressive (in some cases) fun! Most of us have som OC razors around that we may not use all that often. Are straights open comb? Well, no, but they're open blade. Close enough. Soap suggestion - Oleo Soapworks (as in El Caballero for instance). So.....Open Comb (Oleo Soapworks) OCtober. NOVember - November is called No-shave November by the rest of the world. We refuse to be a part of that nonsense. We've always gone No Variation November! Basically it's a month for a rule. Settle on one razor, blade, soap, brush and power through to improve technique, remind yourself why you like them, or just have fun telling the no-shave people to shut up. Or learn a new razor to mix it up! We could also call it No Way we don't shave November! Soap suggestion? I'm open on this one. Nothing's alliterating for me. Maybe aNy soap you want? So.....No Variation (way we don't shave) NOVember! (Until we add a soap if we choose). DECember - Oh, all the veterans are already drooling. We finish the year in style around the 30DC. It's time for Decadent December!! We grab the gear that shines the brightest, gives the most luxurious feel and result, or just plain shaves us in a way that makes us feel like total decadent dandies! Always fun to see what gets pulled out of the cupboard for this one. Soap combo is easy - just the most decadent lathering soap you have! Besides MAYhem, I believe this is the most popular month if it hasn't already become the most popular. Remember - themes are always optional. Rules and Focuses to improve technique are our bread and butter. There you go! Let's have a great final week in July and thanks for everyone who participates here! Without all of you this would be a very empty and lonely place for me to visit every day.
