Tuesday will be the next deo chat. I am itching to make that skincare forum a place of pride. and Yay I passed a 1000 posts.
How cute Priuscilla. Shawn, how do you cook your rib roast? This year I tried something different. Cooked it at 250 till it got to about 120 degress then pulled it out for 30 minutes, then did a 7 minute broil at 500. I used my friends over which was a convection, and it was a bit overdone.
It was a boneless rib roast(3 lb er).....275 for hour and half and 45 minutes at 350. Was kind of in a hurry also since I got started late. After the first hour and half I lather it with dijon mustard and put the bread crumb, rosemary, parsley, garlic, concoction on for the yummy crust If I had the time I would do at it much lower temp but I am hungry and its still cooking!
Here is a sure fire way to get medium rare prime rib every time. Preheat your oven to 500 degrees. For every pound of meat multiply times 5. So if you have a 5 pounder you want to cook it in the 500 degree oven for 25 minutes. Once the 25 minutes is up shut the oven off and leave the prime rib in for 2 hours. Don't open the oven at all. Perfectly cooked every time. My wife and I do this. If you have a crappy oven it doesn't work so well.
Talk about easy. Is there a minimum and maximum weight for the roast? and with and without the ribs? I'm usually cooking a 6-8 pounder with ribs
Actually she isn't the party girl, but the one in my room Kerry who I heard is a party girl keeps it to the weekends, which is ok with me. I was just worried she would be up super late and wake me up in the middle of the night. my Dorm room is going to be set up in a way that you open the door from the hall and you walk into a little common room that had a few closets and I think a couch and a table, then there is a hall (inside the dorm room) and on one side of the hall is going to be my room, I'll have one other girl in my room, Kerry. On the other side of the hall is another bedroom with one girl in it, Maria. At least that is what I could gather from the description that Maria gave me. I'll know for sure in January. I think this is going to be about what my bedroom is going to be like http://www.ub-housing.buffalo.edu/gallery/Ellicott/slides/06.php
Which I wouldnt know that earlier Mine is boneless though....you think it would be the same? Pretty easy method though.
Ray, I think you are first person to ever hit a 1000 posts in 22 days You are going to catch up JoAnna by??????next September:happy102 Way to go! I used to be able to keep up with you across the street but I have slowed down in my old age
My wife and I go by the pounds listed on the package and we buy bone in. You might double check my 2 hour time on google. I think is is 2 hours but it might be poundage rated also.
yeah across the street was a lot of fun til all my friends moved over here. I still am across the street all the time though. soapbox and i use to try to keep close in posts but he took a month off. Yeah, I havent had a lot of days off, where I dont go online at home. Once I get enough of those the posting number will drop to more like 20 or so posts a day average, not the 45 I have now.
I'll see if I can goggle a reference. I'll for sure have to give it a trial run. between you and shawn, I may have to run out first thing in the morning to pick up a roast if I can find one.
I think its one of those things that can be cooked so many ways and still turn out good. Going to give the 500 degree method out next though. My grocery store had so many roasts they might put them on markdown Those are even better! Its nice to have a treat for Christmas.....I used to fry a turkey but got burned out during Thanksgiving.
burned out is better than burned down do either of you measuring the temp before you pull it out of the oven? I did some looking and saw there were a lot of different methods, I wanted to see what you guys were doing, sounds like both of you have had good something good cooking.
You can measure the temp before you pull it out of the oven. At my old house we had a cheaper oven and sometimes I would even turn the oven back on to 350 for the last 30 minutes. That is the great thing about this way of cooking it. You can just turn the oven back on about 30 minutes before it is done and get it good and warmed up.
Shep - yeah I was on today, 6am - 3pm Eastern time. I think I was leaving just as you were coming on give or take ... Standing Rib Roast - I did a 7 rib bone in on the grill 2 new year's eves ago - came out awesome, but I don't remember much of what I did, except it was on the grill (charcoal), it was my first time, it was about $60 - $70, I did some sort of salt/spice crust, and it was friggin' awesome. Dinner's done, just chillin' so I thought I'd pop in real quick.... Sounds like everyone's holiday is turning out ok, except maybe Shep and the lack of fixin's....bummer that one is. Stick the rookie on the roof with a trash can lid and night stick for fire watch. I may be back on intermittently tonight...work tomorrow night so I'll be able to hang out more hopefully....
Hi Matt, I'm about out the door for dinner party, thanks for the primer on the meat cooking, now I'm good and hungry. Have a good night everyone
