My new E & F plates arrived yesterday and I just had to give them a try. The D plate has a blade gap of 0.98mm with very little blade feel. So I was a eager to see the difference in the E plate with is 1.10mm blade gap. I stuck with my modified 2 pass routine and went right to work ATG. I could easily tell the E plate has more blade feel. Nothing scary but it is there. After finishing the ATG and XTG passes, I only needed to touch up my lower right neck. It proved to be my nemesis and spoiled an otherwise epic shave. I will continue to use both plates over the next several weeks and update my thoughts. I hope everyone has a great Tuesday.

July 2018 Recap

Another month in the books. With the new consulting contract I have gravitated towards using equipment that gives me quick drama free morning shaves. The Karve razor has really stepped up and proved a worthy addition to my den. In fact it is competing for my favorite DE razor. I managed to dust off 1 shaving cream and 1 soap during the month. I will continue to work on thinning out my soap inventory.

As usual the best part of the month was sharing the camaraderie with other 30DC members. It is a rare thing to be able to share the daily ups and downs with friends known only through a forum thread. I enjoy looking at the SOTD pictures and reading the reports. Following along with the shenanigans is always a pleasant diversion. Again thanks for letting me be a part of the thread. I look forward to participating next month.

I enjoyed a nice two-pass shave this morning from the setup I've used all month. The Fatboy on 5 combined with the LPL soap has been a top-performing combo. Around mid-month, I switched over from my Kent BK4 to my wonderful 30 DC LE brush. I wasn't quite as smart as @mrchick this morning...or any morning, for that matter. I also mistakenly grabbed the edge of the towel and reached out to catch my razor. I didn't need all that extra skin on my thumb, anyway. Tools trump technique this morning.

I have very much enjoyed following my 30DC brothers in the July focus. I'm always inspired to read about your learnings and exploits and to see your fabulous photos.

Focus Finale July 2018 AD

A month of great shaves and not-so-great shaves comes to an end.
A cake of Vintage Williams and a bottle of Floïd Mentolado Vigoroso left the den for good.
I replaced the starting line-up with closers who were stupendous.
It's difficult to choose an MVP of today's shave, so evenly-matched were the players...
But "where the rubber meets the road" is the razor blade.
The brand-new Personna 74 Tungsten blade came out swinging and mowed down the competition.
Meanwhile, Oud has me nostrily obsessed.
Burt is my long-lost personal fragrance creator. (More assaults on the nostrils...)
With his take on Bay Rum, I am in heaven.

Back home and had a great shave before an early morning meeting. Off focus a bit this morning, but I hadn’t pulled out my beloved Cooper all month. I don’t usually do a full 3 pass shave with this assassin, but I hadn’t shaved since the weekend.
I feel a little irritation, but am completely smooth. Love the Reserve Cool as well.
I seemed to have a hard time staying on focus this month, but did spend most of the time with a few neglected razors and soaps. Another month of solid shaves, and I’m looking forward to pulling out a few Adjustables for the start of August.

It's been a great month with Superspeed related razors. After this month, I would say my personal favorite is the Ranger Tech, but it is really splitting hairs between this razor, the Red Tip, and the 40's Rocket. All of the Superspeeds are nice razors, and I would recommend them to anyone. Thanks for all the fun this month.

In case you wanted to narrow it down at all, the parallel grooves on that E would make it an E3 or later. Love my E3 as well. Many say the E2 is quite a bit more aggressive.

Love the wooden scales on that razor,Keith. I’m biased though, as I like the looks of most finishing done with fine woods.
