Serious scale envy continues...

 

Two days growth, smoothly wiped away. I had a great 2 pass shave, that left me BDBS. Zero issues, with a fantastic razor.

Razor- J.H.Obold & Co. Germany
Brush- Razorock 400 with Whipped Dog High Mountain Badger. Great for face lathering.
Soap- Arko/Sandalwood Scented
Aftershave- Vintage Avon Spicy.

 

When I bought this razor I knew nothing about them, I just liked the scales. Now I'm glad that I'm actually able to shave with it!

5/8 Mappin Bros Sheffield Blade

Had a really nice shave with this pre 1890 blade.Blade edge was very smooth .The previous owner painted the tang with black epoxy.I finished the edge on my J-Nat .Love Mappin Sheffield Steel.Takes an extremely smooth and sharp edge .

13/16 Rugby 1961 Schoeller Bleckmann Phoenix Steel in spalted maple scales - this is the more uncommon hollow ground razor, the 1/4 hollows were more common. I Coloniali Rhubarb Softening Cream was lathered with a M&F 3/1 Finest, and a dab of I Coloniali Rhubarb AS balm finished things off.

Recently Acquired, Restored(Rat Razor Style), and Honed. I had a terrible 1st pass, until I decided to strop it looser with the CroX strop, Linen, and leather strop(Because of the large bevel). The second pass was silky smooth, and left me with a near BBS shave. She aint purdy, but she drives well.

Razor- George Wostenholm & Sons, Celebrated IXL Razor. Washington Works.
Brush- RazoRock 400 with Whipped Dor High Mountain Badger
Soap- Arko/Sandalwood Scented
Aftershave- Florida Water

 

Koraat 7/8 with a 3/4 hollow grind

I find using tape for honing annoying so I reset the bevel without tape, Naniwa 1,5,8 Shapton 12 then Shapton Glass 16k. Shaves as nice a before.

My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Williams Mug Shave Soap face-lathered well with the Jayaruh #309 synthetic brush. I did two passes with the Hartsteel 5/8 Razor on loan from Redfisher and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Aqua Velva AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
