Hi friends!! Welcome to the haul, this is that place where you can share all of your new shaving goodies, and other family friendly goodies. BTW we LOVE PICTURES! lots and lots of pictures. Thanks for sharing. K
Technically, this should be in the July thread, but I'd rather not open that can of worms... For a while, I've been on a military razor kick and have wanted a Khaki Set since picking up a 1918 OT a while back. A few weeks ago, I made an offer to an eBay seller and ended up buying this: After some email follies, it finally arrived on Monday. It's a bit rough and was missing the mirror, blade bank, and original handle. The head has an 'E' series serial and I suspect is original to the set. I did some basic cleanup and replaced the handle with one from the bundle I bought a while ago. The handle has some definite brassing but I think it adds character to the overall set. The blade bank is similar to one that I received from Fuzzy and came as part of another bundle. There's definitely some history here as the original owner must have used this razor well into the 30s, when the Common Bar handle would have been available. Anybody have any advice for further cleaning of the outer case? One other recent acquisition... a heavily brassed AutoStrop B1:
Another antique mall that usually has nothing, and lots of it. Today these turned up, $4.95 and $7.50. No ingredients on the box, but instead a clue when it was made... And one thing I didn't get. I would love to have this in the den. But right now $685 isn't even a viable starting point to haggle for me.
Big score in today's mail call. -A 30 mm brush with Tuxedo style, synthetic knot and Faux Marble handle from APShaveCo. -A restored 40's Gillette Fat Handle Tech in antique brass and copper from Delta Echo Razor Works - 240 razor blades in eight brands (Shark Super Chrome, Gillette Nacet, Personal Platinum, Astra Superior Platinum, 7 O'Clock Sharp Edge, Treet Platinum and Polsilver Super Iridium) from Razor Blades Club. Also a replacement Contigo Travel Mug that has taken a lot of time and aggravation to acquire but not really shave related. (Hope I put this in the right forum)
This concho arrived yesterday, and I put it into the bottom of JR#310. Today, this silvertip badger arrived. and I put it into the top of JR#310.
Today's Mail Call: Some Clubman products that I have been wanting to try. As a kid there wasn't barber shop worth the name without the iconic Clubman bottles on the shelf. A 24 mm synthetic brush. Ogalla Bay Bay Rum shaving soap. Be interesting to see what this is like - it is very heavy on the cloves.
Now your making me feel old ... In my home town when I was a boy, we celebrated the bi-centenial by dressing in traditional garments.
