Adjustable (Arko) Anything Goes and whatever else we decide AUGUST!!!!

    August 2

    Razor - 1962 (H1) Gillette Slim (6)
    Blade - [IMG] (2)
    Soap - Arko
    Brush - Jayaruh #46
    Post - Alum

Trial day two for the P74 blade. Slim up to 6, switch from JR54 to JR46 just because. The Gillette Adjustable on 6 is something of a sweet spot setting for me so I'm always happy to get here. Of course, going wide open still gives the best result in most cases, but this medium setting can work well with many blades. The Personna 74 is no different. Again a very smooth shave with a bit more blade feel. The surprise is that there wasn't more. Dare we say the Tungsten makes that much of a difference? Perhaps. Whatever the case, it was a smooth three pass shave to a very near-BBS. After a bit it's actually feeling like the baby made it. Very nice result and the blade has impressed. It's pretty clear why it was so popular back in the day.

Head shave earlier today with the Merkur 23c, VDH Deluxe soap, VDH Boar brush and the Astra SP. I decided to use the VDH soap in place of Arko for that one rather than do an all Arko day. Great result, no problems. Friday is closing in on us and I hope you have great plans for the weekend. I start my week tomorrow so no great and wondrous plans for me - other than hanging out with you guys. That's pretty great and wondrous.

I see Russians in his start up gear so not only is it the beginning of a very nice shave den - it's also a very orthodox one. The Cartel approves. :happy088:

Thanks Andrew. I had two Webers, and I've only got one mug. I purchased two back when you could get them, and one was still in the box. That's when I still thought my R89 and a Weber or two would satisfy me for life. I was wrong. :)

He's buying the brush. I was the middle man in this deal and helped him spec it out with Jim. The rose wood handle was a pleasant surprise, though.

Thanks Neal. I knew you would approve. Everyone needs a few hundred Voskies in their Den. I suggested he start with those. Like you, he is a head shaver.

Adjustable Arko August : Alternate Location Edition

    Arko - face lathered
    Ocean boar brush
    Ming Shi at 4-1/2
    Feather Hi-SS blade
    Fine Snake Bite AS
    Bound & Shagged AS

Just ten miles or so away from home, mini-vacation keeping an eye on my parents home and dogs while they travel for a week. Hope to get some yard work done tomorrow while no one is looking. It's becoming more than dad can keep up with. Jump started my August with the winner winner chicken dinner set-up. Didn't bring a shave bowl so face lathering happened. If ever a soap was tuned for it, Arko and a vintage boar brush get it done. I did souse the tubbed stick and it loaded well. A fresh blade and my regular setting on the clone did 3+ passes for an error free DFS. After rinsing off the lemony goodness that Fine AS brought the cool. A couple shots of Tom's @twhite home made concoction gave another layer of smooth. It's 50% witch hazel, 50% 180 proof alcohol, and a dash of proprietary scent. There might be some glycerin in there, too. Smells like cotton sheets fresh of a sunny clothes line. I'll finish my evening with a little late night TV, and wake up on my jobsite for tomorrow.

    I haven't shaved in August.

    Don't tell anyone.

    It'll be okay.

    When I do:

59 Gillette 195 (Charlie Danger approved)
Whatever blade is on top of the pile
    Arko
    @jtspartan Tuxedo

    Veg!

Hope has a strong finish to summer. Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado.

    For @Keithmax - it's Friday night!

    Have a fab Friday!

Well, Arko sure makes a nice engine lather. I'm glad you drive a 4-cylinder. You could wear out your arm, your brush, and use up all your soap on the larger engines.

And a final wipe down with The Veg, and this baby is once again ready for I-70.
