SOTD August 3, 2018 Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap Blade: GEM PTFE Razor: Jayaruh 'Woody' SE Brush: Omega 10049 boar Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat Post: Witch hazel, Fine American Blend aftershave Terrific shave again with the Woody razor and the Fat Friday setup. I overkilled the prep this morning as an experiment. Went with cold water and Stirling pre-shave soap as usual. I run the soap in my hands and create suds and then scrub my face. I let it sit while I lather up the soap, then rinse it off, then face lather. Used the same process today but added some Proraso pre-shave cream right before face lathering. I found some at TJ Maxx last weekend for $6 and decided to try it. Not sure it did a whole lot and was certainly unnecessary. But I like the slight menthol tingle it provides. Unnecessary perhaps but I did enjoy it. Fine shave overall. I'll likely use the Woody one more time before sending it on its way. It's been a fun razor to try out. Enjoy your Friday!
August 3, 2018 Karve E Plate Feather DK 7 with Druida Manchurian C&S Oxford and Cambridge Fine Lavender Aftershave A much better shave today. The E plate certainly a step down from the F plate in blade feel. I started out with a two pass shave beginning with ATG followed by XTG. I was so close to catching the baby that I went with an additional XTG pass that easily took care of my jawline and neck. A splash of Fine Lavender and I am ready for the day. Thanks, Charlie! The prep was overkill as I stated. Probably won't do that very often, but it didn't affect the shave adversely. Get in on the pass-around for the Woody if you'd like to try it. I'm the last one so far but Jayaruh made a last call in the thread. School starts for the kids on Tuesday, August 7. We've been in teacher workdays since Wednesday and have another one on Monday followed by the onslaught on Tuesday morning. Thank you, Andrew!
