Todays shave was a newly acquired, restored, and honed razor. Maiden voyage. I had about the best shave ever, with this razor. It wiped away the whiskers, in 2 passes, and left me BDBS. Zero issues, just a Top Shelf razor.

Razor- Waterville Cutlery Co. Waterville Conn. Waterville Hand Forged.
Brush- B400 By Tom(@twhite ). Whipped Dog Boar Knot. Super Soft.
    Soap- Artko/Sandalwood Scented(By ME).
Aftershave- Shulton Old Spice. Ships Lantern Decanter. Mmmmmm Mmmmm Goood.

Ok, I've got to ask what is BDBS, I know what BBS is?

User-grade 6/8 Tanifuji 8000 covered tang, a fantastic shaver. AdP lathered up with a TOBS Super Badger and Thayers Lavender with a couple of drops of Bio grade Provence lavender oil added to the bottle finished it off.

    Cheers, Steve

So, these two razors were on auction within days of each other. I won the Wonderedge first but couldn’t pass up bidding on the DOVO. Glen - @gssixgun - had posted about a restoration he had done on this razor some time ago and gave it very high marks. JPEG image.jpeg So, despite the likely similarity to the Wonderedge, I gave it a shot and won. :bounce017:

Both razors went straight to Glen for honing and they showed up today. They both went into action for today’s shave so I could compare them more directly. The Wonderedge on the right side of my face, the Fritz Bracht DOVO on the left.

    Hot water preparation
    AOS Lavender PSO
    Castle Forbes Lavender Shaving Cream
    Savile Row
    Dubl Duck Wonderedge 5/8
    Fritz Bracht DOVO 25 6/8
    Thayers Rose Petal Witch Hazel

The verdict? The Fritz Bracht DOVO is very smooth. The Wonderedge holds the advantage on sharpness. Both produce a smooth, close shave on the first pass on the chin, both handle an ATG one handed shave of the mustache with relative ease, and both left little for touch ups. That makes them both top tier razors. The winner? Tough call. If I can eke out a little more sharpness with some paste from the DOVO it’ll have the edge. Then again, this is just the first shave and later shaves could convince me otherwise.

    Happy shaving - Karl

I have not had a chance to try the THB products but the do a great job of packaging.

I agree Extra, the spine work is very nice.

I have never seen one with a covered tang.

Karl, congratulations on two great finds.

I’m gosh, those Spalted Maple scales make me weak in the knees! I must have a set on my next rescale. Awesome looking shave!

As mentioned , both razors are absolutely gorgeous! I in particular Love just about any razor with vintage cracked ice scales and three pins! My Dovos consistently beat my Wonder edge and satin wedge in Botha sharpness and smoothness. Excellent shave sir!

What really surprised me was that the company went under in 1913, and it has survived all these years. the Google search puts it between around 1890-1913. .The few I've been able to see on past ebay sales, looked really worn.
