Excellent post, Neal! I think you may be right in that we may be "pampered lightweights compared to our ancestors". Makes perfect sense. My maternal grandfather shaved without soap or cream. Just shaved with water. He hated shaving but would never had been caught with facial hair. My father-in-law shaves after his shower and shaves dry. Yes, dry. No water, no soap, no cream. Ugh. I certainly feel like a pampered lightweight when compared to those guys! But it was their choice and it works for them. Good software works for me, so to each his own!

Regardless, Arko is a good soap and gets the job done. I enjoy using it.

The Fat! Great photo and shave, Brian.

Love Koraat razors. Not a lot of razor AD going on in my house right now, but those razors always get my gears turning.

The razor and brush make a really awesome pairing. Hope you have a nice lunch with your mom.

It’s awesome when a guy has the time to go first class. Nice shave, Jim.

Brian, I just saw a news headline for Idaho citizens....driving slower than normal in the left lane will get them ticketed. Do you know about this? Anyway....back to shaving...brave of you to use Clubman Special Reserve in the summer, but perhaps it's more comfortable out there, less humidity.

A really frigid 3 pass face lather, and a second excellent shave from the Dart. BBS just slipped past, from a miss on my part.

This is an efficient razor. There is no doubt about that. But it is WAY more gentle than other DE razors I have used that leave you hockey rink smooth.

That’s the law I Georgia as well. Doesn’t work though. We still have left lane idiots holding up traffic. Sorry slow drivers in the left lane is a pet peeve.

    Yep, it’s a dry heat
I’m happy to see that they are starting to ticket people that hang out in the passing lane.

Adjustable August, Gillette Fatboy set to "5"
I have decided to take the I Coloniali for a ride this month. I have an unopened terra cotta bowl and another refill puck,
so, I can afford to titanic my way through this really superior soap.
The puck was really dry and needed a decent blooming, which it got. The Mistura knot got a pre-soak as well.
I built the lather on the puck, followed by face-lathering.
Wet and shiny was the lather. Just this side of "dripping".
Now for the heresy. Get ready. :eatdrink013:
Adjustables are basically useless. :shocked003: :signs089:
I realized this morning, that it matters not one bit, how mach blade is exposed underneath,
I shave with the same angle no matter what the razor is set at.

    :signs011:
That also explains why I don't have any issues with "so-called" mild razors.
I will continue with the Fatboy through "9"
and then I will switch over to my Merkur
    Progress.
Alt Innsbruck pairs well with I Coloniali.

    Nice!

So far I have not 'backed up' with another razor in August. I'm going to try for the whole month.

@BaylorGator , I'm developing a plan for a Bill Neumann&Co. purchase sometime next year. 8 oz pucks! Wow. I'd have to say that size makes the expensive cost worth it. But I'll see how things go for me. I do list this idea as a "Shave Goal" for me.
