Sure, Paul. First of all, the TSE tub is way too small. It limits the brush I use for it, unless I smush some in the bottom of a bowl. It lathers very easily, takes quite a bit of water, and doesn’t break down. Beach Bum is my only scent of it, and it is well named. Kind of a Malibu/pina colata type vibe without being boozy, if that makes sense. I chose it for shaves at the lake for the summer, and I think that is a great use for it.
Post shave it is a very standard tallow based/artisan feel. Nothing exceptional, but a quality product. Hope this helps.

I have looked at them many times, but I am just not interested in buying a high end razor that uses Gem style blades.

Now when the AC style comes out, you can consider it purchased. I will buy that one just to support Shane’s efforts. It’s going to have a Hell of a hurdle to clear to improve upon the General.

Looks like a very peaceful place. Is it far from home, or close?

Adjustable (Arko) Anything Goes and whatever else we decide AUGUST!!!!

    August 5

Razor - Qshave Futur Clone (6)
    Blade - [IMG] (5)
    Soap - Stirling Bay Rum
    Brush - Jayaruh #54
    Post - Alum

It's August 5th. Boy this month is already getting away from me! Fifth day for the Personna 74 blade. Yes, the same blade I started with. Second day in the Qshave wide open. Stirling Bay Rum and JR 54 brush for the super lather. Great cushion, slickness, and protection.

I took a lighter touch with the Qshave tonight and watched my set down angle like a hawk. I didn't want to open up the cut from last night, or get a new one. The razor is definitely heavy enough to not need any additional pressure at all. I slowed down, focused on angle and technique for the entire shave, and finished in two passes and touch ups. I'm happy to report there was zero blood. Also happy to report that the alum was quiet. And finally, I'm happy to report the baby is in the house. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Make this model razor out of brass or stainless and I've got a top 3 or 4 razor on my hands. I just don't like the idea of it being zinc. But that's me.

Monday is upon us! Have a great start to your week. It's the middle of the week for me and I'm feeling it. That thud you may hear later - that will be my head banging on the computer when I drop off. Have a great night!

It is indeed very peaceful here. We are about a 5 min walk to a very nice beach as well. We lease it on a yearly basis.
It is 185 km (about 115 miles) from home. The last 70 km is twisty and turns along the lake, however, so it takes up a full 2 hours to get here.

It could be. Adding a couple drops of AS to an unscented or lightly scented soap could give you an autumn & winter scent. If you already have the supplies on hand it doesn't break your NB18.

Thanks Neal. I don't have many by the same manufacturer soap & AS combos. The Green set was brought on because C.O.Bigelow broke my menthol cherry.

I would. Is it one of those toilet set in the shower base with a molded in sink units?!? Harvest Gold or Avocado Green?

Agree with your assessment of both those major metro driving styles. Except when the Looky Lous in ATL on I-285 come to a complete stop to see what's happening across the wall. In Chicago they'd look, but at 70 mph. I'm liking my until recently Mayberry-ish smallville. Lately I might have had to wait a second cycle of a stop light at a busy intersection.

For today's shave, I decided to go with my Rocnel B&R adjustable and my last very cool vintage hollow ground PAL blade. It feels a bit odd using this blade but it does make lots of noise.

I finally finished off this puck of Stirling 'Clubman'. @Drygulch

    Irritation A+ Closeness A

Razor: B&R adjustable vintage PAL hollow ground
    Brush: Whipped Dog silver tip
    Soap: Sterling, Sterling Clubman
AS: Lucky Tiger AS, Stirling ASB
    Scent: Pinaud Clubman

Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: Schick Proline P30
    Razor: RazoRock Black Hawk
Brush: Satin Tip 'The Purest' synthetic
    Soap: Stirling Glacial Lemony Orange
Post: Witch hazel, Stirling Glacial Lemony Orange aftershave

Went with a menthol Monday shave. Glacial Lemony Orange from Stirling is a hit. Terrific lather that can take a ton of water. Coldness from both the lather and splash make for an invigorating start to the day. Really enjoyable.

    Have a great day!

Nice photo, Jim! Glacial Lemon Chill and Arko are a good pairing as far as scents. I almost went with that combination the other day when I used Arko. Have a great day!

I've taken up honing as my next rabbit hole. Today I test shaved with a razor I honed from the ground up. Sharp, but not as sharp as I would have preferred. I made the mistake of combining this with my exploration of how to shave the neck sideways, which seems to be my nemesis in terms of getting the best shave out of a straight. Several passes and buffing on the neck, combined with not enough re-soaping, combined with a not sharp enough blade has made my neck very warm and red this morning. Stupid, stupid, stupid. I gotta stop chasing more than one rabbit at once.
