  1. You are absolutely correct! I totally forgot about its English origin when I quickly ran my list of soaps through my head last night. I blame that on the amount of soap that now resides in my den. Prior to the great soap enabling of '17 MWF was one of only three in my den. It is still top 3.
  2. Wonderful photo and post. Good luck with your meeting today.

Well written recap John. Good to see you posting. Take care.

Excellent photo Charlie. How is the house coming along?

Love the picture Perry. Kids here went back to school yesterday. It seems to get earlier each year.
  3. Thank you, Clint! It is early compared to times past. But I don't mind it as much because we have to fit a certain number of days between now and the Friday before Memorial Day. I enjoy some breaks in the schedule like teacher workdays and the like, and the kids like some days off here and there as well. It all works out. Time flies no matter what.

I had a very long and frustrating day yesterday. At least today is a new day. Up early this morning. I must say the General is a very impressive razor. It's almost a whisker eraser with a Feather Super blade. The Oleo soap was easy to load and lather. My only complaint is the small diameter of the container. I see they have now updated and are using wider containers. Two passes and touch ups ended in an excellent shave. One small area prevented it from being an rare weekday "Epic" shave. I decided to treat myself and use both Krampert's and Captain's Choice. Krampert's leaves my skin feeling great but the scent does not last. The CC Bay Rum took care of that problem easily. I hope everyone has a great Tuesday.
  5. Some Metro Atlanta school districts have went to year round schedules. I am so glad we didn't have to deal with that when the girls were in school.
  6. Your on another paystreak Neal!
Inexpensive or not, still a great shave Jason!
Sounds like a couple of solid shaves, John. My thoughts and prayers remain with you and your family.
    Killer shot, Charlie!
We have another week before schools starts here, I hope you have a good day Perry! It certainly helps when you start with a great shave!
  7. Superb photo and shave, Clint!

  11. Thank you Andrew.

Thank you Perry. I was caught in Excel hell and just could not get something to reconcile. Maybe a fresh start today will produce better results.

  12. I grew up with powdered milk on my corn flakes. Still keep some around for those slightly sour, never fully dissolves, should have gone to the store yesterday moments. It make lousy coffee creamer, too!
  13. August 7, 2018- Anglophile August

    Razor: English Gillette Flat-Bottom Tech
Blade: 7 o'Clock Permasharp Stainless (Indian Green)
    Brush: VdH Boar
    Soap: Williams
    Post: Alum, Listerine, WH

Basically, a repeat of yesterday's great shave. I decided to skip the Simpsons in favor of the Williams again as I am breaking in a new puck. I currently have it living in a VdH Apothecary Bowl. I'm a bit concerned about drying, though, so I may have to find a suitable lid. Any suggestions?

  14. Sorry to hear that yesterday wasn’t a good day, Clint. Today’s shave sounded like a great way to start a much better day.

  15. Agree on the quality of these bigger Omega knots, newbie or not. The ‘48 is tamed a bit if you set it to 15mm or so in a different handle. As for nightclub foam parties? God bless the 90s.

Today is shave #7 with the Fatboy set on "7".
The I Coloniali is going to last for a while. Amazing staying power.
Amazing scent too. I am always "surprised" when I get that first whiff. It's always new.
The M&F loaded nicely and lathered the soap into a wet, slick, silky, shiny cream.
The Gillette on 7...same angle as on six, and so on and so forth.
    However...drumroll, please...
I was doing a Fred Astaire on my ATG/3rd pass and made a sideways motion...:shocked003:
    Razor blades are really sharp.
This can happen with any blade exposure, and has happened to me.
    Finished with Clubman Special Reserve.

  20. Sweet gear, Joseph! The Fatboy is, well...quite shiny. And that brush......
I'll bet the Clubman felt a touch "stingy" on the cut, too.
